That will teach me to not read my books properly, I hadn't realised that canned fruit was syn-ed. Now I've gone over my syns today , only by 2.5 for some pineapple but still

A quick question, probably a stupid one but when it says bacon with no fat, does that mean after you have cooked or before? I was taking it off after but suddenly thought that would mean its cooked in the fat so I've been taking it off before I cooked it.

Think I need to read the books again and see if there are any other syns sneaking in.

When i started HP i read my books all the time . It's easy to assume so much. I still read them now and my back catalogue of magazines - always learn new stuff. I have the 2011 directory and i sit and read that like a normal book :o

one lb off for me so am heading to tenerife 2lbs away from target. its all inclusive so am taking some yogs with me as i love my yogs, am going to heap the fruit into me , and am considering taking nimble to use as my HEB some days. Last year in portugal i avoided the white crusty (mmmm) but we couldnt get wholemeal bread anywhere and the white bread did little to fill me. Not decided on that though. I would like to stick to plan as much as i can with a couple of "treat dinners" . I will no doubt be drinking every night so thats a lot of syns, never mind anything else.

Here's my new favourite pasta if anyone wants to try it. 2 syns per portion on Gree EE or red.

    Pesto pasta

Cook pasta until al dente and rinse in cold water. While the pasta is cooking, measure 5g pesto (shop bought i use) into a little bowl. Add a few tablespoons of cooking water from pasta. Add a few shakes of lime juice*, salt, pepper, fresh chilli (or flakes)

Once the pasta is cooked, mix in some chopped tomatoes and fried peppers and onions ( i caramelise them and keep in the fridge in a tub) . Add chicken if to taste, and mix in the little tub of sauce.

Great cold and keeps for 3 days in the fridge.

*( i use sainsb bottled lime juice - in the baking section)

i took it to our tasting night tonight and blew everyones head off :p:o

    :p:o

This time last year I was just getting to target. I took these

    013993.jpg

with me on my Turkish holiday and ate 2 with my breakfast eggs, tomatoes and cucumber every day. That way I avoided the (delicious) fresh, white bread and made a good start to the day. Mediterranean holidays are also excellent for plenty of fresh fruit and salads. I did put some weight on due to alcohol:o but it could have been much worse.

I think before is much safer, put it in the bin (or out for the birds) while it's raw. Then you're not tempted to eat the lovely, crispy fat after it's cooked. I think your reasoning is perfectly logical.

hp- I find its easier cutting it off with scissors when it's raw rather than faffing around with it when it's cooked. if I cut it off after I always get people doing the 'are you not going to eat that? there's nothing wrong with it! you are so fussy!' despite them knowing I'm on sw and it's all fat removed.

thanks for the recipe Zippy - I might try that this evening as I'm looking for an idea for supper today.

I would imagine that if you're all inclusive that there will be plenty of fresh fruit and veggies on offer and I suggest you just fill up on them as much as possible. If the watermelon there is anything like it is here, it's delicious - a great crop this year.

Remember to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated (very easy to get dehydrated in the sun and especially if you're drinking alcohol) and I'm sure you'll do great.

Off to Cornwall Show with work today and not home until Fri night :( DS has had me awake for the last 3 nights with a terrible dry cough that has gone on and on and on so I'm like a half shut knife and really not looking forward to the 7 and a half hour drive today.

had a bit of a ropey day yesterday with syns sneaking i here and there, I just hope I can find something low syn to eat when I am away with work or I will be looking at another gain on monday.
