Have you tried vertbaudet for childrens clothes, they have hundreds of discount codes if you look hard enough (pm me if you want pointing in the right direction).
Got our daughter some cool jeans for 19p!!!!! with a money off and free delivery code.
Hi,
sorry to hijack the thread but would really appreciate pointing in the right direction for codes for vertbaudet. Please thank you.
Pigpen,
I have 5 kids so can empathise with you (especially the washing!!), they're now too old for clothes to be passed down the ranks - they nick mine an OHs tho!! Eldest 2 have now left home, tho they still come by and raid the cupboards DD1 took me out for Mother's Day lunch then came back and nicked a box of washing powder!!
All good fun tho eh? It's distinctly quiet with only 3 left and positively eerie when there's only one or two at home!!
Well done with getting your debts onder £20K

I had hoped the hat he had this year would last but they are really crappily made so it has already fallen to bits and I am refusing to buy another one until September!
I have paid off my american express credit card!!!! It is chopped up burned and binned!!!!
I have also paid a third of the huge gas/electric bill (down to £500 outstanding now)
AND I have paid some off my next, leaving £250 on there to be paid this month.:D:D:D:D:D:D

What on earth kind of hat costs £55?! Complain to the headteacher that this is ridiculous. Is there no second hand (or second head) market for this over-priced uniform?
I've read a few articles recently about schools being criticised for 'monopoly' deals with uniform suppliers that inflate prices. I'm currently fulminating myself about having to buy two scratchy acrylic jumpers at £16.50 each to replace two that wore out after a year. It's really annoying when you can buy better quality clothes so cheaply these days.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

This kind of hat!! .. the white ones not the berets. The 100% itchy wool jumpers are £40 each now I found out yesterday!! and of course they have to have at least 2.. and they take hours to dry!! The good thing is being knitted if they develop a fault and it is too late to take them back to the shop because believe me I do!! I can at least unravel a bit and fix them usualy.. my son was most impressed when I repaired his cuff yet his friends jumpers were still all fraying lol.. I have a purpose!
Beanie, I have literally cut back on absolutely everything and I am following my snowball to the letter, though because we have had 'spare cash' (ie not needed anything immediately and I am ahead on summer clothes and shoes) I have been able to whittle extra bits out of my budget.. I am actually fretting about what I will do with this money once everything is paid off.. I even joked about running up some more debt so I can pay it off!!!... LOOOONNNGGGG way to go still. It does actually prove how much money we do actually waste in or general living though.. if I can still feed and clothe everyone wo the same standard and cover christmas and birthdays and noone does without yet STILL pay off £500-£1000 a month something is very wrong in my budgetting somewhere... hopefully that is now fixed!!
I got my tax credits today instead of tomorrow so I have paid a little more off AND done a small tesco order to be delivered. My outstanding debt is rapidly making its way towards the 19K mark.. another £150 and I'll break that next barrier!!! (that'll be monday when we get the child benefit in and they pay for their clothes!)
I am really pleased with the progress made this month.. my snowball has also been shortened by one month due to my ebay sales and a very small work bonus for hubby. I can only hope next month is as good (though with the children off school for 2 weeks I doubt it!)LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Blimey!!
You put me to shame, I suppose I should have reknitted the frayed 100% acrylic jumpers. It would be like knitting baler twine.
I hate school uniform - overpriced, impractical, uncomfortable and demeaning. I was astonished when I moved from London, where none of the schools around us had uniforms, to Surrey, where you are expected to spend £100 on acrylic for every child.
Sorry, rant over - apols for the hijack. I am SO impressed by the way you are paying off debts, even despite having to buy £55 hats!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
lol.. thank you.. fortunately only one hat a year so it isn't too horrendous!!!
I never buy the school sweaters for the primary children.. they are junk! My children are still smart by the summer wheras the school sweatshirts are faded and mis-shapen.. they used to use fruit of the loom ones which were lovely so we still have a couple of those which are now onto child number 6 and still looking good... now they use unbranded junk which I refuse to buy.
I just knitted a couple of cardies for when the next one starts in September, she is really tiny (5 in Nov and wearing 2-3 clothes) and finding uniform for her is nigh on impossible.. so I bought the fabric and am making hers.
Remember though.. uniform is not compulsory at any state primary school so cannot be enforced!!!! useful bit of info that on occasion!! Like when they want £1 per child for Genes day/Comic Relief/Oxfam/Harvest festival/school funds etc.. all adds up when you have 5 at the school!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

What a palaver!! They wanted a DNA sample practically.. I said 'I am cancelling because I have PAID IT OFF!!!!'
I feel good.. doo-de-doo-doo-doo-de-doo I fee-ee-eel good!!!!!!
How's that for an online sing?? lol

Well done pigpen,:j
I'm hoping to get one of my credit cards paid off this year but am struggling to pay much more than the minimum - something always comes up that needs money!!
This month has been horrendous got absolutely nothing left and right up to my overdraft limits!!
Have had to pay for an expensive school trip for DD2 and an ATC camp for DD3, kids eh?
Haven't used my credit cards tho:T I don't carry them with me and it's been so long since I used them that I've forgotten the PINs! So I'm moving in the right direction.
