I receive ESA (support group cont based) and have done so for 2 years now. At the time of applying my hubby was out of work, but he's now been working for over a year. Do I need to let them know? Also I receive the higher rate DLA for both comps.

    Does your husband claim WTC?

If you are on contributions based, then your husbands earnings do not count.

    Thanks, that really helps!

    Hello,

    Can someone please help me!?:(
Im separated, on ESA income based in the support group, on DLA high mob & low care for the next 5 years from 2 weeks ago.
Things are really tough. My daughter looks after me...has missed so much school, so Im considering getting back together with my husband. He works full time with an income of £1600 p/m.
My question is 'will I loose my ESA'?

Oh..., Ive been on the above since 2009

    Thanks everyone x

    Would or should it matter?

Surely if you are getting back together it has to be for the right reasons?

No you won't, as long as you remain in the Support Group, your partner's income is not assessed. If you are ever placed in to the Work Group, it is likely that your ESA entitlement will cease due to your partner's income.

    Hi Morlock,

    Just thinking out loud here...
If I do go ahead with the above I will have to relocate from Belfast which is part of the UK (for anyone who doesnt know) to England.
Would I have to make a fresh claim for all my benefits or would it just be a case of 'change of address'?

    Thanks
    x

You will lose your ESA unless you are entitled to contributions based ESA.

You can get help via social services to care for you, its wrong to force a child to become a carer and its unforgiveable making them to miss school which could affect the rest of their lives. And before you reply saying I dont have a clue I am severely disabled myself (HRC/HRM) and I have made sure that my kids have never been forced to become child carers.

She gets income based ESA so unless she has the entiltlment to contributions based ESA her ESA will stop, nothing to do with being in the support group if she isnt entitled to ESA at all.
