Beauty Boxes (monthly subscription) DISCUSS HERE

Awwww, I do love baby clothes. If only my cats were more acquiescent, then I could have them in babygros and bootees :rotfl:
Looking forward to our first Beauty Box Babies being born - let's hope they're not as delayed as some of these boxes have been
Lux Box still not here but I'm crossing my fingers because often Mr Postie doesn't come until 3pm. Plus I have a redelivery booked for today and that isn't here either.
I haven't looked at the spoilers :A I'm such an angelLiving with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
i just got my LUX box
i dont like it ... im a bit disapointed in it to be honest i canceled my subscription and im head to ssb i think ......
i am still looking for a joliecode if any one has one ???
many thanks0 -
I got my LuxBox and Amitee boxes. I only had time to look at them briefly, but love the LuxBox apart from one dubious item. Everyone who subscribes will know what I mean, as we have all got the same boxes.
I was disappointed with the Amitee box at first impressions, but it may grow on me.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0 -
I was so excited when I got the box - talk about frantic ripping through the packaging :rotfl:Also this month there was no ribbon - which helped speed me up!
My thoughts:
Flick Tips - at first I giggled as I thought of my 'anything but eyelashes comment' but I think these will get used. Luckily I got the 'classic range' so I think for fancy dress/glam night out I will give these a try. I certainly haven't yet developed the skill to achieve the effect myself.
Powdered paper - look forward to trying as this is another type of product I've never used before. Any recommendations on how/when it should be used would be appreciated
Murad - not heard of the brand but its caused excitement so I'm looking forward to trying. And a breath of fresh air to receive a Cleanser! I'm still looking for the perfect one.
Orange Blossom hand cream - Smells lovely. Another product that will find it's way into my handbag in the coming months (I've a few hand creams to work through)
Lip Balm - still sealed and I smell the Vanilla so might be a bit vanilla-ry for me. Look forward to trying when stock piles run low.
All in all I really like this box. I feel Luxbox are the one company that really listen to their customers and provide excellent customer service! They stand alone here from my experience. I regard these as luxury products and not a single brand I've heard of or tried before - this is what the beauty box is all about!!
I don't work for LuxBox btw and I had already unsubscribed because I'm trying to stick to one - taken out the SSB 6 month subscription. However if next month is strong I may find myself drawn towards resubscribing.
I've signed up for the Joliebox Birthday Box. Anyone know when this is due? I need to be strong and unsubscribe at that point. I have too large a beauty stash to continue receiving so many boxes!!
What were everyone elses thoughts on the May Luxbox?

Okay, so just as I moaned about not getting my box - doorbell rang and it was Mr Postie. Not impressed at all with this box, will explain why in white:
Papier Poudre - in shade Rachel for dark skins. Now, I quite like powder papers - I first used them about 20 years ago when they became popular through the Body Shop. Sadly, my skin is so white that it is practically blue (apart from my current ultra-freckled Moroccan sun look) so these papers are of no use whatsoever to me.
Flick Tips - love them, I'm always doing mental eyemakeup so these are fantastic because my flicks are usually a bit wonky.
Mocha Rose lip balm with vanilla - looks like something you'd find in the bargain bin at the pound shop.........and I wouldn't even buy it then! Smells revolting and the main ingredient is "petrolatum" (ie vaseline) and I refuse to put petrochemicals on my skin.
Murad exfoliator - might well be very nice but packed full of chemicals and synthetics so will go straight onto ebay and not my face!
Di Palomo Orange Blossom hand cream - same as Murad.
Overall, a waste of money for me - but then I always knew the risk because I only use natural products. It's a shame because the first Lux Box was fabulous but I shall now be cancelling my subscription.Living with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
Rose Oh I love that, where's it from?
Still no LB for me, there had better something for me on wednesday!!! We're off to visit my family tomorrow and are being treated to a 5* hotel - I've never been anywhere so swanky - am nervous and excited!
Would be nice if the weather decided to perk up a bit too! xxNo buying un-necessary toiletries challenge - Start total: 235. Current total: 273!!0 -
Welcome back PurpleButterfly! I'm glad that you had such a fabulous time in Morocco, even if being back home is hard
I received my SSB box yesterday and I wasn't too impressed. It's a shame as the other version of the box would have suited me better but that is just the luck of the draw. I'll put my comments in white, just in case I'm spoiling anything (M.E. brain - I can't remember if SSB has been revealed yet on the thread):
St Tropez Everyday Body Moisturiser - I'm happily white as milk so won't use this. I would have had a go with the temporary spray version though, just out of curiousity :rotfl:
Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream - I love Balance Me (prob my favourite brand along with Elemis) but I don't like this hand cream as I don't like really strong lavender.
Elemis Tranquil Touch Bath Elixir - I've just sold a large bottle of this on eBay! I can't stand the scent, despite loving all the oils that the put into it. Weird!!
Yardley perfume - not for me. I love their rose perfume.
Eyelashes - nooooooooooo!
Ginvera BB Cream - really pleased with this (the only thing!) and wish it was a proper sample size.
Really disappointing overall
I loved their earlier boxes though and I have the Groupon deal, so I'm in for another three months0 -
In contrast, this is what I thought about my Lux Box:
I really liked it because it was interesting! It is far from perfect for me but I'm really curious about the things they have chosen.
I got the eyeliner stickers in Classic Wing, which was lucky. I'm quite happy doing eyeliner so I would never have bought these but I'm looking forward to trying them out
I used to use the Body Shop blotting papers as well so I was really pleased to see these until I realised that they are for darker skin
I will try the Murad exfoliating cleanser as I got on very well with the Murad Vit C cleanser from another box. (I had an absolute disaster with the Murad spot treatment though, so will be cautious. It says to only use it two to three times a week and as I have reactive skin that translates into once a week for me :rotfl:)
I really dislike the scent of the Wild Fig and Grape handcream. I would have loved to try the orange blossom version
I like the lipbalm, which is a complete surprise! I think it's made by the Rosebud Salve people (a cult product in America) so I'm happy to try this :T
So, despite a couple of gripes, I'm really impressed.
HAPPY LONG WEEKEND TO EVERYONE! :beer:0 -
I bought the argan oil from Holland and Barratt today. I'm going to try it for a week an then let you know how I've got on with it.0
-
Loubylou - I'm glad that you bought the oil from H&B. I think it's a very fair price and I'm sure the quality will be excellent (and I imagine that they trade well with the women in Morocco).
:)
(I had a lot of trouble with Simply Argan but I cannot go into it here)
