Hello purplebutterfly, glad you had a good time in Morocco. I was just about to bump your original post.

I recently ordered 2 from your link, now wish I'd ordered more, as my skins come up (eczema). I applied liberally last night, and today, and its helping significantly.

I've just ordered a couple of bottles of Argan Oil for my hair and skin. Thanks for the link Purplebutterfly! I've very excited to try this as I've recently been bothered by bad skin and scarring. Hopefully it will help!

Thanks this offer sounds awesome. Can this be used on the hair?

I've been using the Osmo - Berber Oil that came in my last GB and it's made a massive impact to the condition of my hair :D Wondered if this was likely to have a similar effect?

Ok just went to their site - looks good! Think I will be purchasing!! Thanks x

As far as I can tell, the OSMO Berber Oil is blended argan, avocado and coconut oil. It also says that it includes UV filters but doesn't list full ingredients so I don't know if there are silicones in there too.

The Simply Argan is pure argan oil and nothing else. You can put it in your hair when wet, when dry, add it to shampoo or conditioner, use it as a hair mask for intensive treatment, or mix with coconut and avocado to create your own Berber Oil!

Put it on your skin to soothe and combat aging, rub it into your nails to promote growth and strength, use it on stretch marks, scars etc...............pretty much do anything with it.

Culinary argan oil also has numerous, scientifically proven health benefits and is well worth looking into. Amazing really when you think that it all comes out if the bottom of a goat  :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I took my little bottle of Simply Argan with me to Marrakech and used it on my poor sunburned arms (factor 50 and I still burn) - it really helped. Also used it every night on my face and I have no dryness, no peeling and no tightness.

(Disclaimer - I have no affiliation with Simply Argan and I've never even bought from them! I received a bottle in my Amarya box and then found out that it was half price on their site so put up the link. I'm not recommending it over any other product, nor am I making any miracle claims)

I also had a glorious two hour massage where I was thoroughly doused in argan oil and it was bliss

Missli - I had an amazing time, thanks and am now utterly miserable to be back home. I'm so glad it's helping your eczema, I know how impossible it can be to find anything to help - have you tried Viridian Oregon Grape balm?

purplebutterfly, No I haven't before, as get it mainly on my back in winter, and get dry irritated skin in the summer (if I don't moisturise daily), caused by atmosphere and allergic reactions. A new perfume set it off, so have been frantically trying to get rid of it.

I tried Calamine lotion, which calmed it down, but Argan oil has been more effective.

I like the sound of that balm, as would be great to sort out problem areas. Have you tried it, and what are your thoughts as opposed to Argan oil for skin break-outs ?

Mine is all over my chest, arms, and upper back currently, although healing now.

Hi purplebutterfly can I pick your brains please?
Holland and Barrett do a pure Argan oil 59mL for £10.39 with suggested uses being face, skin and hair care. is this of similar quality to the simply Argan oil mentioned above? How can I discern the differences when both are pure (also if I see other eg on ebay) Do you know where I can learn what I am buyiing as I love the GB berber oil and want to start using a hair and face oil. Sorry for all the questions and I know you say you are not an expert but I can't find any impartial advice from anywhere else (and you've been to Morocco. More than once - makes you an expert in my eyes!) Thanks in advance

They've got muslin cloths in Home Bargains at the moment - I got mine from ebay though. A lady was making them (cutting muslin into squares and then edging them) and I got 12 cloths for £5 inc p&p. They're no different to the Liz Earle ones so don't pay more just because some cloths are branded. You could make your own for a lot less but I'm too lazy :o :rotfl:

I don't suppose you still have the name of this seller as I've been looking for some recently and can only seem to find ridiculously priced branded ones in my local shops

Okay, I am REALLY not an expert, honestly. I can only give you my opinions on things which may well be very wrong!

I have bought about 5 different types of argan oil in Morocco from the kind sold in the street to tourists, to the expensive bottles sold in spas, to the cheap stuff that local women use. All of them look, smell and taste different - most noticeably the argan oil that I bought which actually turned out to be sunflower oil! :rotfl:

ALL of my Moroccan argan oil smells nutty. Even the high-end spas use an oil with a distinct aroma and a yellow colour. This is why the oil from Simply Argan surprised me as it is very, very pale and almost odourless.

The differences in quality come from the extraction process used to press the oil from the nut and also from whether the oil is pure or mixed with something else.

It takes around 30kg of argan kernels to produce 1 litre of argan oil and, if done by hand, can take 20 hours to produce this litre. The argan tree is also only found in one area which helps explain why the price is a lot higher than other oils (the demand from companies such as L'Oreal, Moroccan Oil etc etc has pushed the price up considerably in recent years).

Nowadays, extraction is mostly done by machine BUT some places extract by chemical processes which take away some of the goodness of the oil. I'll put links to some sites that are quite interesting but, to be honest, there is almost no way of telling where or how your argan oil was produced unless you go and grind it by hand yourself!

The Holland and Barrett oil is probably just as good as any other. Unless you have a lab in your house and can test the chemical make-up of your oil, there are very few ways to be able to tell if it is 100% pure or not. One way is to put it in the fridge - pure oil will turn thick, semi-solid and cloudy at 4 degrees centigrade or less whereas if it is mixed with sunflower/rapeseed/etc then it will remain liquid.

I would guess that most of the big brands that sell the oil ARE selling pure oil - but it's unlikely that you'll know how it was extracted.

On ebay, for example THIS brand of argan is sold all over Marrakech for about £3 for 100ml (well, actually it normally starts at around £20 but you can barter it down to £3 if you are very, very, patient and persistent :rotfl:) I've used it and it's fine, no complaints whatsoever. I kept it by my bed and used it on my hands every night before going to sleep - when it ran out I started using another brand and haven't noticed a difference to be honest.

This one HERE however, is for eating not for cosmetic use. The word "alimentaire" gives it away a little  and I've actually contacted the seller to advise them to change their listing. Using culinary oil on your skin will still do you good but you're much better off eating it!

I've put some links below which will tell you more than I can and are worth looking at - especially for the culinary oil facts.

Congratulations miclare - but don't go buying pink babgros just yet! :rotfl:

kbells, it was ages ago that I bought my cloths (they last ages) but I've just looked and there are Hong Kong sellers doing 10 cloths for £2.98 inc p&p or there are UK sellers doing 10 cloths for a fiver. Just pop "muslin cloths" into the search bar and arrange them in price order from lowest to highest.

DON'T buy Liz Earle cloths unless you want to impress someone with a gift. I've won two sets of Liz Earle cleanse and polish and I guarantee that the cloths are no better than cheap ones.
