Hi I have just heard about these boxes and am very interested in them, this thread is so huge though I am still trawling through it but wanted some advice from ladies still receiving them.

I am really interested in the make up, skin care and hair care products, not so fussed on natural products but my face is very combination, dry and flaky in parts but prone to hormonal breakouts and oily patches.

So, which would you recommend for me and is there any codes floating about currently? I have never used a service like this before so keen to follow your suggestions :)

    Thanks in advance, Rhiannon x

Hi Rhiannon, sorry you didn't get a quick reply. I think a lot of us are suffering from beauty box fatigue - or I am anyway:D

The latest Glossybox is being sent out now - detox theme. Glossybox is very hit and miss. Sometimes you can receive a £2 'star product' while others got something worth £20. This happened to me six months ago and I'm still nursing a grudge! I'm about to review my Glossybox below if you're interested in this months contents.

Joliebox has just been taken over by Birchbox from the US, and if I was going to sub to a new box I'd try that one. http://birchbox.co.uk/ I can't find a discount code for either though which is disappointing. It may be because a lot of subs were bought as Christmas presents.

I got my detox Glossybox this morning! Spoilers below in white.

100ml bottle of Paul Miitchell Superstrong Shampoo. I'm glad I got the shampoo as I use more of it than conditioner.

30ml bottle of Duck Island body lotion. Mandarin and Bergamot scent. I'm never impressed with body lotions, but it smells nice and it's small so it will be used up quickly.

Elemis Freshskin exfoliating face wash, 30 ml. Supposed to be a good brand.

30ml Monu Warming Aromatic Mask. I now have quite a collection of Monu skincare thanks to the beauty boxes! Not complaining though because I liek the brand now. There are probably two applications in the sample.

Jason Aloe and Beeswax lipbalm RRP £1.99. Meh, lipbalms are always useful.

And I forgot about the freebie - a pink and black eyemask that says Glossydreams on the front.

I hear some people have received sachets this month and are not too happy. I don't know if there is a star product floating around that will make us jealous! But it's a respectable box. Elemis, Monu and Paul Mitchell are decent brands and I will use everything.

So today I got my Glossy Box and I have to say it has underwhelmed me. My box was completely different from Gentleorange's. It was free with points and will probably be my last box from them for a while:

Sanctuary spa 30 day thermal transformation sachets - approx value £2. I already have one of these currently unused from a previous box.

Lacoste perfume vial - 2ml - approx value £2 - I particularly hate perfume samples

Murad hydro dynamic eye cream, 3.5ml - approx value £12 - best value item in my box.

BM Beauty finishing powder - 1g - approx value £2. From experience this will go everywhere when opened.

Monu micro exfoliant - 30ml - approx value £5 - I don't mind monu products so happy to give this a go.

So value wise probably not a bad box but I think I've lost the enthusiasm that I had a year ago for these boxes and would much rather spend my money on products I really like. I will probably just buy the occasional LIB box when I see one I like.

I'm happy to go into stores and ask them for samples and presently have too large a stash of products anyway.

I've read that there are spoilers available from bloggers but I haven't been able to find any so do not know what the other product options were.

I still have a Birchbox to come, having received my December Lux box yesterday, which was pretty good.

Got my glossy box I received:

Balance rescue face tonic 30ml and according to glossy the full size is 50ml for £27.50 but this information is wrong it should be 100ml for £17.50. Really don't like this the bottle and label are really cheap, wonky label, poor quality printed label. The ingredients are rose water lemon grass oil and sandlewood oil. Not sure who would pay that but certainly not me. The bottle is only 3/4 full and it has very little scent.
Monu renu relax mask 30ml price £32 for 100ml, quite like this product and look forwards to trying it.
Jason Lips bee healthy full size £1.99, I have loads of lip balms so will porbably pass it on to friend.
Vichy Normaderm cleanser 3in 1 50ml price £11 for 125ml. Decent size sample and will use when I have used the other facial washed I have.
Santuary Spa 2 sachets. Hate sachets there is not enough to try the product a few times to actually work out of you like it.
    Also got the eye mask

So not a bad box there are a couple of products I am looking forwards to trying.

    Gentle Orange,

Thank you for the reply. I have finally read all the comments on this rather mammoth thread! I have gone with GB for now, but am going to see how this month's BirchBox go and may get that next month. I do like the look of the LIB advent box as they are now £29 plus P+P, it looks like very good value!

I tried to not read the spoilers from those who received their GB's today but I lasted all of 15 seconds before I frantically scrolled back through and highlighted them all :D I look forward to getting mine and shall update when I do!

It appears that the initial buzz of beauty boxes appears to have tailed off over time, which is a shame as I have just discovered the excitement they can offer!

I look forward to chatting with you all xx

    Hi Rhiannon :hello:

I just get Amarya, and Luxbox, which I'm happy with. They're both good, Amarya for quality natural organic skincare, and Luxbox for sheer indulgent luxury.

I love them both so hard to choose for me, but going by what you've mentioned perhaps Luxbox would be good? Their last box was fantastic (great products worth over £60?), and they have always been consistently good boxes.

It might be worth doing an internet search on previous boxes so you can decide what's best for you. :)

My beauty box fascination hasn't waned, but reality has set in, so stick to what I like now! :D :rotfl:
New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

I was just doing a post on Betrousse and noticed they have put all boxes down to £9 - all previous boxes are included :)

(I'm so tempted to buy some lol)

    xx
    Happy Comping All!
  • My Glossybox arrived yesterday containing: (Spoiler in white)

Balance Rescue Face Tonique - pleased with this, although it's for combination skin and mine is normal to dry
Monu MicroExfoliant - looking forward to trying
Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Conditioner - I don't use much of this (very fine hair) so might pass it on
Jason Lips Bee Healthier - very timely arrival of more lip balm
Sanctuary Spa sachets - I use some Sanctuary products, so happy to try more.
And the eye mask, which my mum is threatening to pinch!

Slightly disappointed not to get the Elemis, which is one of my fave brands, and overall this one isn't the best box I've received.

Still overall fairly happy with the contents, so will continue the subscription for the time being.
