Ok, im probably being really dense here, but i know theres alot of boxes -if i subscribed to say the SSB one month -do i have to have it the next month, or can i choose another, and would that be a different subscription??

sorry, im probably missing it, but little help?:rotfl::o

Each box is run by a different company and needs to be subscribed to separately.

Essentially, the boxes themselves are just clever marketing tools aimed at getting samples out to as many folk as possible in the hope that you will then buy their products.

Glossybox/She Said Beauty etc are pretty much just extended PR companies who source samples and send them on.

Amarya is a store in its own right so it is sending out products in the hope that you will then purchase more from its shop.

It's exactly the same premise as the samples you get in magazines except that you pay for the boxes and therfore tend to get larger sample sizes in them (Amarya promises at least one full-sized item each month).

Once you subscribe to a box, you will then receive their boxes each month until you cancel your subscription. You can cancel at any time (read t&cs regarding cancellation) and you can subscribe to different boxes at any time.

You can subscribe to every box available if you wish - but be aware that you will probably find the same items in many of the boxes over time. For example; the PR company in charge of marketing Kim Kardashian's new perfume will either contact or be contacted by each box. They will then try to get the perfume included in as many different boxes as possible in order for it to reach as many potential new consumers as possible.

If you get three boxes, it is entirely possible that the perfume will appear in each and every box at some stage. Gentleorange and Marchen have already reported this.

There were some appalling false nails a few months back that appeared all over the place! In beauty boxes, sent out to beauty bloggers and also sent out to testers on Boots beauty panel. The company making the nails managed to get loads of publicity for their product without paying for a huge marketing campaign. Sadly, the publicity was probably not as positive as they had hoped :rotfl:

a few other companies have gone the same way too, they did the same with those god awful nail wraps! they were everywhere and are just awful fiddly things. they didn't fit my nails properly and looked so bad when they were on.

Dead Sea Spa had the same, ok the first time we got them, but the 3rd/4th time our reaction was just "please god not MORE BATH SALTS!!!!!!"

body lotions are also getting the same treatment, regardless of brand, they are starting to get "please no more!!" every time they appear.

I order which ever box I decide on for that month and as soon as my payment is taken, cancel the subscription. That way you get the box you paid for but do not end up getting charged for one you don't want. I learnt that lesson with my very first month to Carmine. ordered 2 boxes using the half price links around at the time, one in my name for December and one in my daughter's for January. I loved the December box but hated the January one. So imagine my dismay when I realised I'd also been charged full price for a second January box in my name as I'd left it too late to unsubscribe. Oh well we live and learn.

    For me in order:

    1. Amarya (A must have!)

    2. Joint 2nd. Amitee (I wasn't sure at first, but was well thought out, and have used the lip-balm daily)

    2. Joint 2nd. Glossy Box (sort of a tie with amitee, but have so much body lotion, I'm giving some away. Also hated the straightening hair styling product that was in it, as have no desire to tame my waves/curls. I loved the under moisturiser skin treatment, eyeliner (sea lagoon, a wonderful shade for me), and the lip balm (although have a few).

I haven't recieved my luxbox so cannot comment, but it was hard to choose between amitee, and glossybox, although am leaning towards Amitee for usefulness, but loved 3 of GB's items.

I got my Latest in Beauty samples today, and am pleased. I'll put away the insect repellent for the summer, and will use the rose otto body wash, and the ARK age maintain kit (2 ml samples each in dinky little tubs of cleanser, exfoliator, masque, and moisturiser for travelling).

I will start using the Melvita Naturalift cream this week, even though I'm currently using an excellent Beauty Naturals revitalising cream, plus a Neals yard moisturiser occasionally. The ingredients look lush, and very natural.

My skin could do with a boost, so here's hoping! :D

    Hello fellow Beauty Boxers!

I finally received my Glossybox today and what an anti climax. Of course I got what I would describe as one of their rubbish boxes:

Caudalie Serum - I like this!
Inika Eye Liner - Great...oh no it's Blue. Disaster!
Peppermint Lip balm - Happy I didn't get Cherry - woop!
Monu Body Cream - Body cream bores me.
Philip B Straightening Balm - blah.

Now cancelled it but they have of course already taken payment for the next box - lets hope the Birthday box is a good one!

I'm also still subscribed to Lux Box and She Said Beauty. I think I will probably cancel Lux after the next box. I think She Said Beauty is the one I will stick with as a regular subscription.

Now closing my ears before I got sucked into the world of anymore boxes :rotfl:

Is it the sapphire blue (dark) or the peacock blue (bright)?

Because blue eyeliner on the lower lidline is fantastic for making your eyes look more white and more open.

Even if you don't use it on it's own, you can use it over the top of black eyeliner to make your eyes really pop. Purple also works for brightening (anything cool toned and blue-based) Honestly, try it!

I nearly always use an Urban Decay liner in purple or blue on my lower lid (I have hundreds of the !!!!!!s so it's easy to match the shade to my eyeshadow) because it make hazel and brown eyes really stand out and mainly because the whites of my eyes are really yellow due to all my meds :(

My wedding day saw me with 4 blended purple shades on my lids and purple eyeliner top and bottom! It was really bright in real life but in the photos it looks smokey and muted and my eyes look nice and bright.

I like the serum too, and have put away for winter, as my face gets dry then.

I got the eyeliner in Green Lagoon, a lovely, light, bright metallic shade of green (I have green eyes so suited). I really like it, as already got one in graphite? (not sure of the name) colourway.

I got the Peppermint & Tea Tree version too, which I am pleased with.

I have far too many bodycreams, and received the same, so was hoping for something else, but the size makes it useful for travelling.

I don't want, or need straightening balm, so will give mine away.

For me, I will use 4 of the products, and actively love 3 of them so was worth it, although I'm subscribed to far too many! :o

If you cancel glossybox then resub do your glossydots stay with you? I have 500 (though no idea why as I have had 10 boxes and gave feedback on all items so should have 1000:mad:) They talked me round in circles about where the others went, then just ignored me! Anyway I'm thinking I should stick it out till I finally get the free box.

Were they decent sizes in the Glossybox?

It would drive me mad knowing other people got different items in their boxes. Especially if they got things that I wanted!
