6.4 people chasing every job

So all these under-employed people are competing with unemployed for a job.
 .
And the regular employed. I have been told that a junior doing a junior role with 2 years expereince in a job has more chance of me getting an interview for the same job even if it was the next step up for the junior - since I am not working0

if they are the better candidate the employers should be offered a sum of money once the person has been with them a year instead of paying the WP thousands!Googlewhacker wrote: »So what would you suggest to encourage employers to hire out of work employees?0

If they were the better candidate they would get employed in the first place...The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Some of the secretarial jobs I apply for have hundreds of applicants showing on the Reed site..
I was out of work when I got my last job but I found out when I started that they had interviewed others first but they had all failed the tests and then I was in a later batch, maybe due to being unemployed, but I was the only one who did well in the test so I got through.
Being out of work, I guess I have the immediate start in my favour.0

Are you serious? I was told by an agency the company was very impressed by my CV and I had all the criteria that they were looking for but they were looking for someone who was WORKING!! I didn't even get an interview. I guess you have never been turned down just on your employment status.Googlewhacker wrote: »If they were the better candidate they would get employed in the first place...0

or the company who wouldn't interview as the job was 'lots of photocopying, faxing and scanning'! I think I am qualified to do that.0

most jobs go to those in work I have said that already plus I have been told I have no hope since I am not working. Say there are 50 jobs I apply for and loads of other do too including people who ARE working. All 50 jobs are filled by people who are working therefore creating another 50 jobs that appear online a few weeks later so I apply for those too and they are filled by people working so it is a never ending circle untill they start looking seriously at unemployed people.
Never thought of it like that before, So effectively what this mean is while new jobs get created they already go to those in employment meaning the unemployment number never actually goes down, Does make it feel pretty hopeless.0

Also remember statistics can be made to say anything!
 nonsense

No, new jobs are not being created. The jobs exsist as there is always someone moving on to something else, its just one big chain of eventsNever thought of it like that before, So effectively what this mean is while new jobs get created they already go to those in employment meaning the unemployment number never actually goes down, Does make it feel pretty hopeless.0
