Gas usage (please help)
Comments

For whatever reason, your usage was recorded as very high in April 2011, but since the reading on 14/4/11, your usage has been more believable. As 14/4/12 is not far off, you will have an annual usage if you take a reading then. This should be a better pointer to what usage you can expect going forward. Get your supplier to recalculate the DD based on those figures
Monitor your meter closely, do the test HappyMJ suggests, and convince yourself if a possible meter problem should be investigated further.
Once you have got a predicted usage and cost you are more comfortable with, you can look into ways to reduce costs further if necessary.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Are you sure you've got yours right??
The OP is right in that 2 Hundred Cubic Feet of gas (which is what imperial meters use as units) is about 63 - 64kWh.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Can anybody tell me how to find the boiler spec for an ideal isar HE30? I'm not sure if the output is the spec I am suppose to be looking for, for me to do the test as HAPPY MJ suggests.
I have run the test for 6 minutes which my meter reading was 4354.5 then after the test it read 4354.6 which if times by 10 for the 0.1 unit I have used works out to 32kwh used.
I have been trying to find out the spec for the boiler but to be honest I do not know what I am suppose to be looking for?
If anyone can help me with this I would be most appreciated :beer:0 -

Possibly here...http://www.idealheating.com/product-literature/brochures-manuals.php

That is a fairly typical rating for a modern high output combi though not in itself "proof" of the gas-rate set. It suggests there is no gross error with the meter, something already noted about consumption over the last year.
The "anomally" whatever it was, occurred around the time the daily average was recorded as "708". While it may seem to you that the meter was responsible it is much more likely to be the result of a rogue reading, though I accept given what you have posted in reponse to questions, I cannot yet offer an explantion.
The "anomally" a year ago does not affect your current consumption though it may still be skewing the billing.0 -

I dont believe your boiler would have consumed 32 Kw in 6 minutes. That would suggest that it would then have the potential to burn 320Kw in an hour. as a domestic U6 meter only has a capacity of about 64Kw/hr,there would seem to be something amiss with the math..;)Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). For peat's sake it hasn't. It has consumed 3.2kWhrs in 6 minutes. Do the maths.0 -

FWIW i am in agreement with you re consumption. We need to be clear that we understand our units of heat energy, volume etc..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Hi thanks for all your help but just see whether this is right
start at 4354.5
ends at 4354.6
am I suppose to times the 0.1 units by 10 (this is the usage i used in 6 minutes)
which would leave 1 unit converted into khw would be 32 kwh
have I done it the right way to how happymj has asked?0 -

OK, I confess I saw it as a rating, but the point you made, however gramatically correct will only confuse a non-expert.0
