Last time we recruited we had a girl who was fantastic in both stages of the interview, seemed genuinely interested in the job and was offered it. Never saw or heard from her again. We left messages on her phone and email to double-check that she knew when her start date was (incase there had been any confusion) and she never even bothered to get back in touch. Rude, much?0

I had a prospective employee manage in their cover letter to spell the company name wrongly which in its own is bad enough but they managed to spell it wrongly twice in two different ways! The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!0 -

Maybe she had a better offer or maybe she heard about how you'd screwed over other members of staff and decided not to bother with you. It works both ways. Staff can leave you in the lurch just as easily as you can screw them over and/or bully them. The next time you decide to make an employees life hell, remember that.0 -

See I've always noticed things like that and paid attention to it, always tried my best to get things spot on and give a good impression but employers lately want everything. Just now there is a job advertised in my area for a road sweeper - must have previous experience (no I'm not joking).
Then employers wonder why its so hard to find staff?
Employers seem to have a few key requirements for staff these days:- Have as much experience as possible
- Take as little money as possible
- Always be polite and never show negative emotion
- Take the bullying, stress and like it
- Be screwed over your wages at every opportunity
- Find a job where experience isn't needed but dedication and hard work is appreciated
- To be able to survive off the wage, pay bills and afford transport to and from work
- To be able to talk to their employer about issues that are troubling them
- To be treated with respect and common decency
- To have a fair wage packet

The office manager and the FD went mental.
She turned the job down as she didn't like the work enviroment and they couldn't see it was a 2 way thing, interviews.
They said why would anyone come to an interview if they wouldn't take the job but I said it's to see 1) if you like the person and 2) if THEY like you and she has the choice to say no just like you as a company turned down the other 5!0 -

However, I had an advert pointed out to me recently, (on the JCP website) where the company advertising a vacancy had spelt their own corporate name incorrectly, not once, no not twice, but consistently - ie three times.
Not familiar with the website. Do the companies place their own adverts directly or does a website administrator do it for them? If it is the latter then it won't necessarily be the employer's fault.
It doesn't really matter though. Like it or not the employer holds the aces here and if they misspell their own name it doesn't mean that they will accept similar carelessness on CVs.
It does remind me though of a few years ago when a scrambled version of my own email address appeared on the recruitment website. Only one person bothered to do the minimal amount of research required to work out what it should have been and applied. She got the job.0 -
