Hi there!
I am getting a new bike next week (wooop!). It has a basket on the front, and judging by the weather we're getting lately, I have decided it would be wise to create a waterproof cover for it.
So I was wondering if anyone had done anything similar? Or if anyone has any suggestions of what to use for the fabric? I thought about an old raincoat, but the problem with that is that I don't have an old raincoat that I can cut up
Can you get pretty patterned waterproof fabric? Coz it also occurred to me that maybe others would like something like this. What do you guys think?

Where are you based in the country? If you're anywhere near a big city with a bike culture such as Cambridge or Oxford, I could see this being a massive success.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
Where is everybody? Hope you are all busy crafting :T
Well, I have started making a dog bed! Check me out! :rotfl:
I won a £10 voucher for eBay, decided to buy a huge bag of bean bag balls. Not delivered yet, hope they hurry up! I had bought a curtain in a sale, one of the pair was missing so it was only £2.49. Have taken off the header tape and split the lining from the curtain. Cut out 4 pieces and pinned to make the sides of the inner part (hurry up eBay so I can stuff it!). Cut out two rectangles for the top and bottom of the inner. Same again with the outer bit, except I've only cut three sides, need to buy a zip tomorrow and figure out how to do that side.... Never used a zip before.
Not sure if doing an overlapping flap would be easier? But would I be able to get the inner out the flap so I could wash the outer?
Oh I don't know what to doCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
good luck with your beanbags zepsgal, I'll be watching with interest as i'd really like to make a couple for the kids for christmas, but never really thought about the 'how to' before?
I've been mega busy these last couple of weeks, things have gone a bit manic lol, i'm selling tons of bookmarks, with 'laters, baby' (50 Shades of Grey quote) stitched on them, they are a very quick, easy make if anyone wants to try some to sell, I must have sold a couple of dozen so far :money: I can add a pic later if anyone would like to see.
I have a couple of orders for cushions to do today, then some crochet as I have been granted license to crochet some brilliant designs for sale, just need about 20 more hours each day lol
How is everyone else getting on? I must admit to being a bit miffed by some of the replys to a post on here recently, (the mini rolling pin one) I really believe there is no reason why a craft business cannot be successful and some of those replies were quite offensive. Dont knock it till you try it, I am worked off my feet filling orders, they might not be worth mega bucks, but if I can bring in an extra £10 a day doing something I love, I consider that a big success!0 -
Hi sketchingkari
Brilliant idea getting in on the 50 shades hype :T Would love to see a pic.
I have to admit to getting quite involved in the rolling pin saga - it was very frustrating dealing with people on there who clearly have no idea with regards craft businesses, including a back and forth with someone I had who was insisting that my friend cannot make enough money in her jewellery shop just because she also does craft fairs!
There was also some incredibly rude comments made about the OPs product, either be constructive or say nothing at all!Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
TBH the whole rolling pin fiasco was rather uncomfortable to read. I mean, yes the items in question needed a bit of work to make them...... better? More saleable? But some nice encouragement and help would go a long way, rather than ripping that girl to shreads for nothing.
Anyway....
Beans still not delivered today  Hoping that they are sent by courier and not RM as the postie has been to my work today
New puppy is coming tomorrow, wanted to have the bean bag bed finished tonight so he has a place to sleep, looking less likely now. Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
It did make very unpleasant reading at times didnt it, I hope the OP of that thread didnt take the negativity too much to heart and I hope she pops onto this thread for help and support x
Here is a picture of my 'Laters, baby' bookmark

I'm happy for people to use the pattern to make them to sell if you like, you can just about make out the squares of the aida to follow the pattern, I just back them with iron on interweaving, then with grey felt and blanket stitch around the outside. I do ask though that you dont use my photo to advertise them if you do make some, I found one of my 'friends' using my photo to advertise that she was making bookmarks, I wasnt best pleased!
Anything 50 Shades inspired is selling really well, everyones a bit mad about it (me included)
Sorry that your beans did not turn up, fingers crossed they are coming by courier0 -
I can't see the picture (silly work internet!) but will take a look tonight.
That's very generous of you to share the pattern for selling :ADebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
This is what I've been playing about with this afternoon:
Not to sell as bracelets though, but to sell as kits to be made up - I ordered some bracelet kits from a reputable European supplier and have been SO disappointed with them that I thought I'd have a go at doing something better!0 -
Those bracelets look lovely xx0
-
Wow you've all been making lovely things
I love seeing what everyone makes. I have a picture of what I've made but a little worried about posting it because of the rolling pin thread.
