    Hi

    A few of my guesses:

Fort Derussy Beach Park ... try South East
Kuhui Beach park - Try North West
So plonked final in the middle on the cop shop :rotfl:

    Good luck all!

Yes statues been done also, think earlier posts stated he tried the area directly inbetween there and senor frogs..
I walked that area earlier and we are talking about half a mile -
and IF the marker is EXACT then with all the other help,
    its in the sea???????

I have checked satellite imagery from there and theres no visible things in the sea and a laptop cant float - the only thing of any significance i found about the sea in that particular area is that the a famous surfer rode a 30M wave just infront of the outland rigger hotel??

WE so needs yesterdays answer because myself and friends placed them in a 1 sqft area in the parthenon building - purely due to 'that orange' box saying -1west moved flag spot width to right it said 2-east it said west?? sowent down 1 flag spot it said 3- north so yes youve guessed it..?? went 1 spot north and it said.......god you lot are quicker than i can type south??!!!!!

Well we couldnt go any closer according to T.O.B. so theoretically<-* we were ON TOP of it???

So if dell told us the answer that would then give 'our good community' a much better indication of placement..

Because obviously they could be doing it based on the actual clue '
Grass skirts and hula dancers can point you in the right direction'

and not the actual pinpoint position of the flag,
and the first game filicudi cave, sicily didnt really help as theres no actual definate location of if according to wiki? Theres 1 on sicily but also on filicudi?

    Dell hello?!?

I'm a tad confused as to why yesterday's answer helps with today's clue? :)

I don't think they physically put a laptop in the Pathenon or in a cave, it's just a random generator picking places - so the T&C's say

only because of the reasons i said in my post above - exact placement of the flag??
Thought i said that in my previous post,
the random generator cant exactly pick an imaginary place it must exist so if you ....compare the posistions of where you put the flags in relation to their location, it will give you a much better idea of if EXACT placement of the flag matters??
If it doesnt then the clue should lead you to an answer.

Simple as that of course i may be totally wrong who knows?

I think vanpopple is talking about the clues, if we found out where yesterday's location was, we could work out how the clues work, if they're being literal or it means something else. Today's clue seems straightforward though, but who knows?

Thanks for everyone helping out with locations! Mine seem to be of no use, and Dell don't seem to reply to messages reliably so my map guesses may have to be random. Unless yesterday's really was located in Australia!

If I were running this, I'd definitely put one of the laptop locations in the middle of the ocean :rotfl:

Edit: vanpopple, they probably pick a location/spot and then just see who has the closest coordinates to their own coordinates, even if you had the exact area there's still a chance of not getting it exactly.
  • Stuck my first flag right outside the Starbucks on Kapahulu Ave - on the competition map its near Lulu's Waikiki Surf Club. The Starbucks can be seen on Google Street View (my thinking was that it would be good place to hide a laptop in a surf resort, lots of people "surfing" in there!) Got the message- You're almost touching. Try looking North West. Hope this helps.

Good thinking ^^^^^^^^ because if its not too much about placement then these are the types of guesses we should be doing - rather than EXACT flag placement in relation to the 'orange box'/

Exactly! and they cant just put it in the sea or say in an unamed part of the world, im guessing..

So if the flag doesnt have as much relevance as our guesses within a real world '1 sqft' area - then clue is the thing that will take you to the answer - then its just a guess as to picking a needle in a haystack - (and my hours spent sat here today walking round honolulu would be wasted - although its a nice place with lots of restaurants and im learning a bit about it)

So pechow and everyone else I believe waiting for yesterdays answer will probably work out better than I/we think..

From what I get from the T&C's a place is picked randomly - i'm guessing for a list of tourist attractions or whatever, eg the Pathenon, then the clues are to that. Then they look at who is closest to the exact grid reference they have 'chosen' and they are the winner (if there are more than one winner, then the person who guessed first wins).

I guess if we knew that yesterdays laptop was in the dead centre of the pathenon it would help ... but only when we do get the right area lol

I think it's been given too much thought - the clue led to Hawaii, stuck a flag in somewhere and it tells you south west, north east or whatever ... so it's guessed based on that ..... ah well just my impression anyway for what it's worth.

Winners are picked after 30/3 apparently - guess we won't know for sure until after that :)

    ^^^ Basically yes,
If it is just a point picked according to a reference on a world map ie- starbucks, honolulu then their clue and pretty much lead you to honolulu then its just a matter of 'where you think' - i like the starbucks guess by 'wwcd' - and although the OB will say NSWE its like ignore it because you could have 100 flags and it will always say a direction as its been told that it honolulu- then dell have decided where to hide it...

And although it ends 30th, they gave the first days answer out- but not a definate answer -'filicudi cave, sicily'

Its a head blagging waste of a few hours though

    Second clue answer...
Dell Home UK Winners will be contacted at the end of the competition via email. The second XPS 13 was hidden at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. How close was your guess?
