and load the various pdf information you'll see that the correct siting/orientation inside the Laptop of the di-poles at the end of the antennae cables is critical to WI-FI performance. Having not taken the PB completely apart I don't know where the location fittings are but it is all beginning to sound a bit difficult and expensive so I am tempted to cancel my order and go down the PC card route.

I really dont think its anything to do with the antennae position (its been tried with the antennea coming straight out of the bay with nothing obstructing its path to the router and it still drops) I think its to do with the card.

Someone has to get hold of the 'Billionton' card.

    Im trying to source it.

OK, Ive found where you can get the official card that works with the Athlon processor i.e the Billionton card

Problem is......you need a serial number from the bottom of the E6 series that has the intenal card in it.

E6307 is the model with an AMD processor and the Billionton Mini PCI card

    Why?

Because this is the company you get the Packard bell spares from. They can locate anything you need.

Battery for our laptop = £125 incl VAT and Delivery

In order to know which mini pci card I would like they have to tap in the serial number to find the part code. Our serial number wont show the mini PCI card cause we aint got one (dispite the fact there is a slot for it)

    SO in short.

If someone finds out a serial number from a E6307 then we can get our Mini PCI cards that 'should' work.

Heres where to get your spare parts: 0808004210101

If anyone reads this and has the above mentioned laptop and dosent want to post their serial number then if you could call the number above and ask what their part number for the mini PCI card is then I and many others would be in debt to you :-)

If anyone finds out the part number for the billionton card then a million thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you who (like me) have the Intel Pro 2200BG MiniPCI card, I have a possible solution to your problems.

I installed some drivers from the IBM website for this card (drivers are version 9.0.1.21), and they are MUCH more stable. I didn't have problems as severe as some of you seem to have had, but I find that the range and stability are MASSIVELY improved with this new driver.

    ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/1ywc25ww.exe

When you run it, it will extract the drivers... then go to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANCX2A and run the Setup file. After installing it will prompt you to reboot, then you just connect to your wireless network in the usual way.

Certainly worth a try before you spend money on a new card. Post here if it resolves your problem... I know it has worked for some people on another forum already.
