evening everyone
been busy today so no idea whats going on or what glitches i've missed:(
hope you all got your thorntons orders
no love toshop vouchers for me, i was a latecomer:D
so i need some quick advice as having an early night
am freaking out because it's my first car boot tomorrow
any advice from any regulars for us virgins pls
i am taking some of my tco's and OEP's and 4 packs of mint aeors as i think i bought way more than we can eat as a family and i have already shared out loads to family and friends (in and amongst hoards of old clothes and toys, can't believe the clutter we have collected over the years)
any advice on pricings, i don't want to give stuff away but don't want to come home with a full car either
more importantly finally got some TPO's today:T:T:T:T
please can i join the TPO club at long last?:rotfl::rotfl:
OK from when I used to do car boots.....- Label prices on EVERYTHING, people hate asking how much things are
- Don't clutter the table, put your best things in the middle and space things out as evenly as possible without overcrowding the table.
- If you have things you are trying to get rid of that are maybe a bit tatty or not asthetically pleasing, put these to the side or in front of the main table, not on as most people just glance at the table before deciding whether to keep walking or come for a closer look and you don't want them to be put off by what they see as a table full of rubbish.
- Have a price in your head for each item and don't go below that price unless you're really desperate to get rid of it.
- DO NOT take any (extra) money with you if you leave the table to go to the loo or for refreshments as you will just end up buying everyone else's stuff :rotfl:

My Oxford English Dictionary says:
"common sense n. good sense and sound judgement in practical matters."
Phew, glad someone agrees with me!
My local petrol station was closed again today, no fuel. Same yesterday. Car says it will do 0 miles on remaining fuel! :rotfl: (Personally, I refused to join in with the rest of Joe-Crazy-Public in the hysteria!!) I actually said the same as your DH regarding this 'petrol crisis'. It seemed obvious to me, and if we're right, it worked a treat.
There is no way I would have joined this 'gang', the queues were awful. I did fill up however, as I had two airport journeys to do this weekend could not have had my baby granddaughter stuck in the airport!!Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.0 -
Night Night AltoJack - I fancied something different from my normal whisky & diet coke so had a little drop of Sheridan's and feel lovely and warm inside now. Well it is either the Sheridans or all the lovely messages from you lot
I was about to go to bed then realised I hadn't posted an update today  and I have just remembered that I have pm's I haven't replied to yet too  Sorry, will reply to them tomorrow, I promise
We've had a lazy day todayGot up at 8.30am in case the District Nurse came shortly after 9 and got us up out of bed like she did last weekend  but in fact she came about 10.30/11am. We had a leisurely brekkie - Alan had fancied waffles but when I did them he wasn't impressed so had to make him a bacon buttie instead. I'd grilled them in the halogen as we don't have a toaster and I overdid them - more like french toast so I'm not surprised he didn't like them
I didn't even get dressed till 3.30pm when I popped to Mr T to use my £5 off £40 voucher and lots of couponsso all we have done is watch tv most of the day, mostly Sky Sports :j :j Alan went to bed at 6.30pm, so I took the dogs out and then popped round to my disabled neighbour's for half an hour, and he got up again at 8.20 to watch Sunderland's 3-3 draw v Man City on Sky Football First. He'd asked me to get him a bottle of normal beer and he drank that slowly as he watched the match - he said it was ok, but couldn't have drank any more. It is a shame for him that he is not enjoying his beer as much as before ...... but better for him
We had a healthy meal tonight of chicken, brocolli, sweetcorn, carrots, and rice, and Alan really enjoyed it - it much better for him than fish & chips every day and will strengthen him up quicker too. I have been looking into superfoods to help his 'recovery' and have a few ideas of what to stock up on. He will still have his cakes, croissants, puddings, etc and the odd fish & chips as he is on a very high calory diet on orders from hospital, but can still enjoy some healthy meals tooI am going to get some organic Tumeric powder after reading the details Aesop sent me as that is a simple, easy to use item that will do no harm and may help :j
Everyone keeps asking how we are coping - I think that they think that we are just putting on a public show for them and are breaking up in private but it is not like that. We are not burying our heads in the sand either, pretending that nothings happened, which is what some others might think is the case. We are just not letting the cancer take over our lives. It is a massive part of our lives now, but we can have fun, and joke about, and not feel guilty about it ...... and that is what we are doing, still enjoying our lives, day by day
We are going to the car boot in the morning and Mr 3Dogs is going to try out his crutches to see how he gets on with them, so that should be interesting
Off to bed now so goodnight to all the Fantastic Elite - sleep well and BE HAPPY :money:Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Evenin' all :-)
Been to a friends house for a few drinkies, had a fab evening and now time for bed :-) I logged on with the pretence of looking for redundancy advice (not me fortunately!) and now i have caught up, it would be rude not to post!
I've read some things on here tonight that have horrified me, made me squirm, laugh and laugh some more! You lot are so addictive!
Off to bed now as I need to walk for 20 mins to get the car so i can go shopping in the morning :-)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. And I used a £5 off £40 by buying 8 Dettol No Touch handwashes with 8 coupons and 11 Andrex to take it over the £40! Lovely SA said that they have a woman that goes in there regularly and tries to use the £3 Dettol coupon against food and the SA's have been warned about her! I just said that's dreadful  who would do such a thing?:D
Where did you get 8 coupons? Please share!!!! :beer:Christmasshopper wrote: »Celebrate, my best car boot sale tip is:
When you get there find your pitch, then go for a walk around the stalls that are already set up. You will find that if you set up as soon as you arrive you will likely be mobbed as you try to unload your car. Some people even go with the intention of stealing from cars as the stall holders are setting up. If you have a little walk around first, the mob will have moved on to the newly arrived cars. HTH
Oh god, I remember once we took my mum's big estate car and started unloading, people were crowding the car and peering in, also moving stuff in the boot and rifling through, we got so tired of it we shut the boot, locked the car and just organised what was already out. We were so shocked at the rudeness of it!
God knows what she'd make of the behaviour of the pack of vultures at whoopsie time! :rotfl:
Personally I often stand back and watch, shaking my head and chuckling, well sometimes I get in there and try to get stuff but only if it's possible to do it in a polite way, I always feel so sorry for the SAs that get crowded and can't breathe. Plus there's this old chinese woman who bashed me out of the way the other day, well she tried, but I have a way of being an immovable object when need be. It's one of the advantages of being built like an articulated lorry :rotfl:No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

Hi 3 dogs
Thanks for the update
On the subject of superfoods, when my sister was recovering from ovarian cancer she was told to eat brazil nuts. Think it was because they were high in selenium.
Also my dad was prescibed vitamin c tablets to help with healing after he had surgery.
Best wishes

I got one of those sets when they made a mistake on reducing homewares. 20% off became 80% off. I got one of those sets for £13.00 , 2 sets of the knives without the block, new saucepans and new baking tins. I paid for it all with gift cards from DTD in April.0 -
