Hello Decay.
That poor lady with 40% burns.
Read some very harsh comment about it being her fault.
If gov didn't a start panic chances are she would never have been transferring petrol in the first place.
Heaven forbid any of the tanker driver gets into an accident as a result of driving when tired ( the origin reason for the regulation )
Think the HSE being a bit tooth less here.
They should step in given a fuel tanker is a lethal vehicle, full or empty.Shortfatscotsbloke wrote: »Sorry Frequent, I'm afraid I have to strongly disagree. Whether or not some government plonker mentioned storing petrol, who in their right mind would transfer petrol from one container to another IN A KITCHEN, while a GAS COOKER WAS ON?? She must be a complete numpty to think that it was fine and safe to do so.
To me what makes it worse is the fact that the press completely sensationalised the whole story by having it on every news bulletin and on all the newspaper front pages. At the end of the day, the woman did something incredibly stupid and unfortunately paid the price. No, she didn't deserve what happened to her, but to blame the government is a wee bit daft imho.
I'm with Shortfatscotsbloke on this one, sorry Frequent! In a kitchen?? Really? Whilst the cooker was burning away next to her? This is beyond stupid! Some imbecile tells her to fill up a jerry can and she decides that would be the best place to do it! And to be honest, she'd already demonstrated her lack of common sense when she bought into the panic buying. (Why do they call it common sense when it seems to be such a rare commodity?)
She didn't deserve 40% burns, but she did kind of ask for it. Amazes me how stupid some people can be.Gwrys yn Kernow! :j0 -

No-one would ever ask for those kind of injuries, nor the attendant publicity. She has my sympathy.0 -
