I've just seen & rejected a M&S Indigo maxi dress, quite casual and lovely bright colours and nice feeling fabric but it had been taken up badly and unevenly.

I might have succumbed if it hadn't been £7.99 (in Age Concern).
I had another look at this ^^^^ today.

The original hem was still there, it just needed to be unpicked to take it back to 'as it was' so I would have a proper level to begin the shortening to fit me.
Colours are pink, vivid orange, dark grey and khaki in blurred zig-zags (am I selling it to you, ladies? :D).
I tried it on, it's a Grecian style with cross-over front and back, the back drapes a little.
It fit perfectly and as it was now reduced to £4.00, I decided to take the plunge.

Went to a couple of the non 'everything £1' charity shops today.

From the local hospice charity shop I got some more new 'Mummy uniform' lol.

Two variations of striped tops, one from George and the other Next and a pretty much unworn pair of lovely dark, stretch, skinny jeans from M&S. Total £10.00.

    Floss....wow, what a haul!!:)

I went into the city centre this afty for a change and called into the BHF shop. Saw a b/n pair of M & S Capri pants in a dark brick red colour. I left them as they were asking £4.79 for them which I thought was a bit much Couldn't stop thinking about them as I was walking around so ended up going back to get them. I reasoned that I have spent very little this week in the chazzas, (£1), so it would be a little treat. Can't try on there so it was a bit of a gamble, think you can take stuff back for a refund tho, but they were a perfect fit :j Now, if only the weather would improve enough to wear them!!

Some good makes there, Floss. :T

Miro - sometimes you just want something even if it costs more than you usually pay.
The fact that you left the trousers, thought about it, then went back shows you really wanted them.

    I had an almost-bargain yesterday. :(
Fab bikini in purples, jades, pinks.
Looked a good make and in my bra size - the top fitted perfectly.
    The bottoms?
Well, they were so skimpy I'd have had difficulty making an eye-patch out of them.
I don't think I ever wore anything so small even when I was in my 20s and was fit, firm and flab-less. :rotfl:

The good thing though Pollycat is that mismatched bikinis are a la mode at the moment so if you have a plain bottom in one of the colours in the top you will be the height of fashion ;)
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

Techno - you beat me to it!! Was going to suggest the same thing. Try the supermarkets - they've got some really nice co!ours and not expensive.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

    Thanks. :)

It did occur to me about a plain coloured bottom - as I stood in the changing rooms 'with it all hanging out' so to speak.

It had black in & I do have a decent black bikini that has 'good coverage'.

The make was Pour Moi and it's a decent make, quite expensive.
The style is identical to this, the pattern is a bit more purple and with black in:

These are the bottoms I'd prefer: :rotfl:

So my question is - do you think a black bottom would look OK?

    And is it worth £3.00?

The top is £26 and the skinny bottoms are £16.

    OK.
I looked at the bikini again and rejected it.

Swung by M&S to see if they'd got anything interesting in the 70% sale....and there was a bikini top in my size with a pair of 'boy shorts' in my size.
Top reduced from £28 to £3.99, bottoms from £16 to £1.49.
Royal blue and white pattern so not my first choice but still very happy.

:j Got a very nice pair of W@llis trousers for 50p this week. They're winter weight, but represent my proper size (have been dieting for 16 months) but I can already fit into them.

Cut is very nice and they are in as-new condition. Totally made up.;)
