I popped into a CRUK just before closing this evening and spotted a large and beautiful cream and aquamarine sequinned cushion for £2. And then an even more beautiful one in beige and gold for the same! The cushion pads alone cost at least that, so I was v happy.

I love my Denby because I have the horde to help lug!
Also when I see it under 50 pence a piece it seems almost discourteous not to.

Sonnet? Hurrah - it's lovely - the subtle colour & lovely geometric lines are just a delight to eye & hand (once the back has got over shifting it all).

I agree, eating off Ode would probably end in (my) tears. It's as well I don't live near Denby, as pretty soon I'd need a warehouse myself!

I do love how you can become an accidental collector - I might not have gone as far down the path if I'd not inherited a couple of casseroles etc from both grandmothers, but when a flatmate introduced me to the Breakfast Cup (think small rice bowl, but triple the height, Denby curve the sides and add a handle that could operate the weight when filled with coffee)? A wonderful start to the day & you could use it as a cereal bowl if so minded. I was hooked...

Some great finds yesterday, including 2 beautiful dresses for my niece for £2 each, for when she gets a bit bigger. She's so girly and loves the stuff I get her. In fact her mum buys underwear, socks and nursery uniform, my mum buys her shoes and I buy the rest :D

Then in a completely different part of London, I came across a pop-up "charity" shop. I say this because the more I think about it, the less I believe it is actually a registered charity (no receipt, no registration number, and the lady running the shop couldn't tell me exactly what the cause was!). Nothing was priced, and when I enquired I was told I could afford it! Quite frankly, the owner didn't have a clue what she was selling. Without spilling too many details, someone had dumped a load of BN and current business books amongst the inane chick-lit, and I bought a huge pile for the price I wanted to pay. I would have happily paid more to a genuine chazzer, so will be making a donation in lieu to one of my choice.

In these circumstances, the loser is the generous donor who gives away their items believing they are helping people in need. I'm certain that all proceeds go straight into the owner's pocket.

I was waiting for you to post again!

I couldn't remember your exact username but I did think of you about 3 weeks ago when I saw a certain book in a chazzer. I resisted buying it on the grounds that I would be highly unlikely to ever get round to reading it :o

    Thank you. :D

If the novel based on her work was anything to go by, I'd imagine it's a complex read. And I'm all for keeping it simple these days, so I'd probably just ruthlessly extract the bits I want. :)

Dropped a box of goodies to the charity shop. Prefer to do this rather than put the charity bags outside my house. I always wonder what happens to them.

    Hi
What do you mean with 'home'?
    Furniture? Pots and pan?
You may get specific answers from people in those areas but if I'm going to a new town or city, I check out Yell.com and search for 'charity shops'.
I know BHF have furniture/home specific shops, maybe there's one in those places.
Our Sue Ryder shop has furniture.
Our local hospice shop has a place on an industrial estate where they sell all the furniture/big stuff they've had donated.

Yesterday I bought a New Look jersey dress in coral, pink and blue tropical pattern with scoop neck back & front and cap sleeves.
    Very pretty & summery.

    It's a size 16!
But it's tiny. I measured it against other dresses and it's either wrongly sized (neck & care label both say 16) or New Look sizing is very skimpy. More like a 12 I'd say.

£2.00 so not the best bargain in the world considering the make but it's very 'me'.
If I decide to take it on my upcoming hols, I'll need to chuck out another dress to make room so decisions, decisions.
