Now, I've had young people asking where I've bought various pairs of my boots (especially the acid yellow patent and flowered ones).
    :T

they're not Mary Quant boots are they? I used to have a pair of ankle boots like that. You could buy an extra 'leg 'bit' that you zipped on around the ankle to make them knee high :D

so I'm not off-topic, I got a set of 3 clip-catched (forgotten word :o ) cakes tins for £1.50. They're 6, 8, & 10 ins. The shop has been getting rid of most of it's home goods to concentrate on clothes & linens and was closing that afternoon for re-furbishment. I only had £2 on me so gave them that as they're well worth it.

No, these are DMs - the traditional ones.
That's why the kids were so interested.

    'spring loaded' cake tins?
  • In my local Julia's house this week I bought a monsoon tunic dress for £9.00 it still had the original tag in and was originally priced at £59.00. I picked up some vintage buckles and buttons for 60p and a Murano glass vase with blue and green colouring for £4.50.

Just back from Nettlebed with a few bargains, this time mostly things for my daughter's class at school. Again, I spent less than £20 in total.

Chunky 12th scale plywood doll's house complete with simple chunky furniture (beds, chairs, tables). It looks sort of Scandinavian, and is brand new and sealed in a box, needing assembly/glueing/screwing together, a job for Mister C J.

A Casdon battery operated chip & pin electronic till.

A Tool Tech light up toolbox and tools (for children, not Mr C J), brand new and sealed.

10 hardback books, including a Terry Pratchett Discworld illustrated one, and an illustrated Neil Gaiman (The day I swapped my Dad for two goldfish).

Two 100-piece jigsaws, suitable for ages 5-7

A frame clamp, for Mr C J's workshop

A matching pair of white china/silver topped soap and lotion dispensers

A rechargeable electric ladyshave razor, new and boxed

2 cuddly toys for our puppy

    4 small cross stitch kits

    Two large wooden picture frames

A very tall cream metal bin. This originally had a touch close lid which didn't work, but I wanted a tall bin without a lid for my forthcoming craft log cabin so this is perfect!

    Really wonderful bargains today.

Three of the Diana Gabaldon Outlander books plus another book for £1 in the Cancer Research shop plus a beautiful rose pink suede jacket in the Sally Anne for £2 and two brand new Debenham's bras which had been donated in bulk - £21 down to £3. Absolutely delighted

Two mugs, one stonking great pint & a slosh size, handily labelled Typhoo (which may enable us to wean a son off the rather lovely Scottish mug I bought his father from the same cs about two months ago) and a tiny genuine starbucks espresso sized mug, total 40 pence.

It will be heading off to my caffeine addict pal in short order, as she claims to only need one shot of the stuff in a day, so I propose to see if that works in reality. Or at least make her laugh. She's currently trying to get over a 24 hour ick bug while finishing sewing a dress to wear to a wedding and getting everything sorted for same, so a hearty laugh seems like a good idea.

(Searching for hot chocolate for grouching spouse, I found two glorious enamelled mugs I acquired <ahem> some months ago & have dutifully put them in the "This Christmas, Really" box. Which goes to show that sometimes a grouch is useful.)

Ha ha, that reminds me of the Monty Python sketch with the boxes of chocolates with ghastly fillings (like crunchy frog) and there's the 'spring surprise' one where large steel bolts plunge through both cheeks.
