What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

Oh Whoops Artytarty - its only a bargain if you NEED it! But we've all succumbed to temptation havn't we?
Never mind - at the least its a lesson learned and I for one have certainly done something similar on more than one occasion (never stops me looking though)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I think I may have "Misbought "
I spent £36 and got
A large new in bag pure wool cream blanket, satin bound edges, in cream. Lovely quality , originally £75 in shop reduced in sale to £60 and I paid £20. But do I really need it?!
Also slipped up on a nice Pull and Bear grey marl tunic dress £9.99
Vgc but I see online it was only 13.99 new.
Two new loaf tins 99p- I've got two so why did I buy them?
And a black shaggy type longline jumper.
Hmm, not my finest day.
Ooooh, the cream wool blanket sounds smashing! I would love to find something like that. There are times of the year when a duvet just isn't enough I find. Anyhoo...wots nicer than snuggling under a lovely blanket on the sofa on a winter's night?
Today's midweek tripette to the further flung charity shops, (in lovely sunshine...yay!) saw me coming home with a pair of silky black and white M & S jim jams in a flowery pattern. No labels on but I'm sure they are brand new. And a long sleeved scoopy necked cerise T shirt by Tu, (really nice quality). Both 99p each in the St Gemmas shop. I dithered over the jim jams as both tops and bottoms had a 99p label attached but they were on one of those 'joined' hangers and so I was just charged 99p for the set. Very pleased.:j0 -
Are findings just as good in the summer?
I just wonder because some people carboot their stuff and then donate what is left.
It may just be psychological but find chazzer shopping not so good in summer?0 -

Today I made an unexpected stop at a chazzer, then another.
I bought a VfM-sized mug (600ml) for my morning tea for 60p, and a glamorous jewellery set for just £1.99.
At the next I bought a book for £1, a party top for myself for £1.50 and a gorgeous rose pink dress (£2.50) for my little niece for when she's much older. All of which were wants and not needsValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Just wait until the temperature drops, by October you'll be snuggling up on the sofa cosy underneath it. £20 is not a lot to spend on a good quality item that you might use 5 nights out of 7, for 7 months of the year. Which I calculate to be around 13p per snuggle in year 1.

I love 'chazzer maths'! About 10 years ago I bought an M & S stone coloured parka-type jacket, unlined heavy canvas sort of fabric. Twas on the 50p rail at the hospice sale. Must have worn it hundreds of times over the years and it still comes up like new after a run through the washer. I would try and work out the 'cost per wear' but it would make my head hurt!:rotfl:0 -

we've all been there - well I have, many times- but just think of what you have actually saved over the years, and of all the things you probably would never have been able to afford new anyway.
You may not have saved that much on your dress but the charity shop has benefited from the money you've paid out so, today, you've just donated a bit more money than you usually would to charity
And, now you can multibake bread or cakes and either freeze for later, donate to a good cause, or give to a friend the rest - makes much better use of the oven0 -
All very true! Thanhs,
I feel a bit better now!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
I got myself a pair of boots from Timberland paying just 7 pounds.0

I got some odds & ends of china plates, saucers, and sugar bowls - all 50p each. I also got a 2 tiered china cake plate for £3 or £3.50, can't remember now0
