Dragged the bf into a charity shop this weekend and bagged myself a Gap black and white geometric patterned tulip skirt for £3.50 (RRP £29.99) and a heavy vintage-looking metal stag head coat hook for £3 (RRP £16).

I'm also on the lookout for some picture frames for some artwork I have acquired, I'll just buy the right size and spray paint them black to match all of my other picture frames!

Bought a Principles petite blue and green wrap dress from Willen Hospice for £4.00, it had been reduced down from £6.00.
They also had a beautiful Accessorise Kaftan for £3.00 which would have been perfect for the beach, but as I'm more of a city break girl I left it for someone else.

saw lots of overpriced stuff, Charity shops round here aren't brill but very happy with my two bargain.

I overheard a lady at the counter querying the £7 price tag on something (couldn't see what it was) and she was told that £7 was the correct price and, after all, it was new. She replied "yes but new in Primark it's still only £4!"
  • I have just found this thread, and spent most of last night reading through it.

I must admit, although we regularly donate to charity shops, I had never shopped in one - until last week. We are in the process of moving house so after a huge de-clutter we took several boxes of toys, clothes and kitchen ware to our local charity shop.

Whilst waiting for dh to unload the heavy boxes I spotted a beautiful shabby chic style "welcome" plaque, and a little cath kidston coin purse, took them to the till & the lady said there was no charge due to the quantity & quality of items we were donating!

So we have a lovely plaque for the new house, a purse which will go to my mum for Xmas, and got rid of all our unwanted bits in one go!

I will certainly be buying from charity shops again!

From BHF Kidderminster: a 100% cashmere jumper £3.49.
I guess no-one's looking at jumpers this time of year!
    Normal people worry me.

I had a trawl through some local charity shops today and found some decent items. A couple of the items were a bit pricey but overall I think I got value.
As new Principles cardigan for winter or chilly summer days £5.95
A unique hand decorated good quality t shirt from South Africa £3.95
    Long Per Una skirt £1.00
    Long M&Co summer top £1.00
    Laura Ashley angora jumper £1.00
All the items are in 'as new' condition

Regarding charity shop pricing, more of the ones near here have introduced a £1.00 rail for clothing. This is in addition to the regular items.

I found a pair of as-new yellow leather & brown high heels for £3 (!!!) and a beautiful vintage black velvet fitted blazer for £5!! It's the prettiest thing I've bought in ages.

Talking of £1 rails, I found a pair of nearly new Dor*thy Perk*ns 3 quarter jeans on the rail yesterday-in my new reduced size-12 :j

I would say well over half my wardrobe is made up of charity shop clothes now, coats, jackets, dresses, tops (all types), shoes, scarves & handbags.
I don't usually find skinny jeans that aren't washed out, or the shape of the previous wearer -so have some I've bought new.
Underwear I buy new, although a few weeks ago I found 2 sets of PJ's with labels in my size (well a big bigger but I like PJ's with plenty of room) in a box on the floor of my hospice shop -£1.50 each!

Locally only go in certain charity shops-due to not having enough time, I don't usually bother with BHF, Tenevous, Barnardo's because of the pricing.

I stick to the local hospice shops, International Aid, and an Animal one-which I can't remember it's name (not RSPCA).
Also in one town I work in a day a week, there are "pop-up charity shops" where a local club or society or charity or anyone raising funds takes over an empty shop for a week-to sell for their charity.
These are great for a bargain.
It's a bit of a win win situation for everybody. I expect the owner of the shop has a gesture of rent for a week, the town council want the shops to look "taken and open" so the town doesn't have an abundance of empty dilapidated shops in the high street, the charity gets funds that week, and the shoppers get a bargain!!!
