C&A still operate in mainland Europe and you often get their clothes on Ebay and at the markets so they might be fairly new.

Really? I didn't know that! Where?

I used to love C&A when I was younger, I still have one of their tops now and I wear it all of the time (it's 15 years old!)

Still have them in Holland, think it is actually a Dutch company. DH likes their pants but since last Dutch relative has passed away we have no reason to go there anymore :(

Mum picked up a Disney princess bike for the granddaughter for £4. As new. Looked like it was only ever used indoors. And I got her a wee Disney demin dress and jumper, as new, for £2.50

As an aside, I now volunteer a few hours a week in a big name charity shop here in Northern Ireland. The shop has to clear £1200 a week. We also have to price lower then the BIG charity stores but obviously we can't give the stuff away. A lot of our problem is the older volunteers often don't have a clue about pricing. I went in last week and they had priced supermarket names at the same price as big name and also missed a lot of big names and priced it wayy too low. For instance an as new fat face shirt £2.50 and a George one at £4.50

We are slowly educating them :) however it's a work in progress as some volunteers are only happy working in the back and don't want to be shop floor

I dropped my daughter off today & passed a charity shop that was closing for refurbishment.

All clothes were reduced to £1 - there were some fantastic bargains in the coat dept, if they were the right size.

They were asking for offers on the furniture and a lot of it was marked as Sold.

I got a very nice Italian fine wool shawl in a baby pink for 50p and a Next denim jacket for £1 - but best of all, a 13 piece metal, Nativity cookie cutter set for £1! - I'm absolutely delighted :)

I toyed with buying a large Fatface cord bag for 50p but, sensibly, left it for someone else to snaffle.
  • Afternoon Everyone,
I popped into a Charity Shop this morning, looking for a thick blanket or similar but ended up buying 2 different sized curtains. They match in design and are fully lined but unfortunately neither was part of a pair... not a problem though as while I was looking at the sizes on the price tag, I realised that I could use them as covers/throws for my sofa and armchair!

My suite came to me 15 years ago, 2nd hand, and is really suffering looks-wise but it is still comfortable, so I had thought about getting it re-upholstered. The price to have it done was shocking, so my bargain today was a grand total of £5, meaning my lounge now has a bright new look.
Even better when I tell you that I had been in T3scos earlier, ready to part with £10 for foodstuff that I don't actually need but when I saw how stressed everybody else was, I put the stuff back on the shelves and walked out!

Am feeling very pleased with myself and in the new year, I might even attempt to FIT the fabric to the actual shape of the furniture!
