Went to Windsor yesterday so my daughter could see the the reindeer parade & the castle lit up. Lots of charity shops but prices vary enormously.
Managed to get a new Rocha john Rocha trapper hat for my husband for £4- just checked the Debenhams website & it's on there for £39.50. A Cole & mason salt grinder for 49p- the full set is in the Lakeland christmas catalogue for £74.99 and 2 complete board games for 10p each. :j0 -
No clothes today :0(.
But...
A book called The Secret Listeners: The men and women posted across the World to Intercept the German Codes for Bletchley Park. It's in really good condition and is ideal as an extra xmas pressie for my Mum as it's a subject she's very interested in. It was £1.50 from Willen Hospice shop. They did have a buy one get one free offer, but couldn't find anything else I wanted.
Then from RSPCA shop Song for Marion DVD 75p and the complete box set of The Wire for £3.00.0 -
Recently bought a beautiful Jaeger short black cashmere jacket with buttoned funnel neck and tie belt for £25...my regular winter coat now.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

The local hospice shop had a pound sale on all clothes, shoes and bags. I got there when they opened. Got 29 items!!! Only two didn't fit and will be 're-donated. The best bit is I've got a very happy family as money has been tight and they've got lots of new to them things they needed. Very pleased. :-) xxx0

Been very naughty and went back again today as they extended the sale and got another 15 items. I think you can honestly say the whole family are kitted for a while and I get some brownie points into the bargain.
Very busy, almost 'Black Friday' style so guess everyone is feeling the pinch and the Hospice makes some money so win win all round. :T0 -
I was in Rome recently - looking at the second-hand clothes market which is supposed to be very good for bargains - and found some F & F amd M & S cashmere jumpers, identical to ones in my wardrobe and which cost between £3 and £5 in local charity shops, at €50. Admittedly you can haggle a bit, but I still reckon I'm quids in!
Best recent buys - two Agatha Christie Miss Marple complete books each on6 CDs, £2 each, a couple of pairs of lined wool trousers (M & S and French Connection) for £2.50 each, and a gorgeous 1960s vintage coat in red an black boucle tweed, with a mink collar, and in perfect condition, for £15 - my Christmas present to me!0 -
I am a regular visitor to Aberdeen and used to get some good buys but lately the prices are getting outrageous. The charity shops used to be busy but not now.
I think pricing is a local issue, and that there is takings competition between different branches in any given chain. I recently visited a Barnados, which was completely over-priced and devoid of customers. The BHF a few doors down was heaving. Guess which I shopped at?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Had a look in the chaz shops in Runcorn and got a looks like new pair of navy cord type jeans from Fat Face for £4. Love Fat Face stuff but their jeans are about £45.I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round0

Another good day at the hospice chazza sale.....
Got a good as new Sprayway Goretex waterproof walking jacket in hot pink(!) for £7. Currently whizzing round in the washing machine with some freebie Nikwax specialist washing stuff. Will be easy to spot if I get lost on top of a mountain now!
Also got a lovely Viyella chiffon scarf in shades of black and teal still with the 'seal' tag thingy attached for 50p. Would it be a bit stingy to give it as a Chrimbo prezzie?0
