What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

Fab red cotton top from Karen Millen with silk arms £5.99. Wore it to sales meeting at work and colleague said "ooh I've got that one in black, it was £90 but faded like mad though". To which I said that I wasn't really that bothered as I didn't pay £90 for it ... She couldn't believe it when I said I'd picked it up from a charity shop.
It is hand wash only - and I have adhered to it! - there are lots of bargains in our charity shops which are usually hand wash only / dry clean only, think they are there because people can't be bothered with the upkeep of them. Thankfully once it is hand washed and dried it doesn't usually need much (if any  ) ironing!
I rarely tell anyone that what I'm wearing comes from the CS. When someone comments I just say, 'Yes, White Stuff' or whatever and let them think I spend a fortune on my clothes.;) Am I strange?0 -

I always say it's from a little boutique in my village!!Cross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -
Had a trawl round the charity shops in Skipton on Wednesday (full of day trippers from the many tour buses that descend in summer!) but it was a toil of a pleasure! Spotted some nice things in the wrong size (always the case isn't it?) but did manage to pick up a gorgeous t-shirt for ballet-mad middle DGD. Decorated with a pair of ballet shoes and ribbon and brand new. £1.25 and she absolutely loves it!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. No, I do the same at work if anyone asks! Partly because I don't want others trying to poach my bargains. Far better than wearing the exact same Next dress or top as three other people in the office though, which is what usually happens here each season.
Hoping for some CS bargains today- hope I haven't jinxed it now:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -

I think there are two schools of thought on this. My SIL always just tells people the make and lets them think she bought it new (her reasoning for this is that her friends would be horrified at the thought of buying things from CS or car boot sale - more fool them, I say).
Whereas I tend to tell people that it was second-hand, from XX and cost me XX, because I love to show-off my bargain-hunting skills!:rotfl:0 -

Maybe it's a local thing then! I'm in the same city. Which shops do you use?:)0 -
Just had a peruse around a couple of localish CS to see what was on offer..... Picked up a NWT short fitted plaid jacket with leather style elbow patches for DD1 (nearly identical to one she paid £35 for) for £2.95 and a pair of topshop jeans for £2.95 that go with the jacket.
Then I found a pair of petrol blue DM's for £6 - they've got paint splatters on but will clean up lovely and fit like a dream. I've wanted a pair for years but wasn't willing to pay full price - these will be ideal."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Black snakeskin Christian Louboutin shoes - genuine as far as I can ascertain, and needing a little attention to the heels, but wow, one of my best bargains this year, I reckon!

I promised myself that when I turned 30 I would stop going "HAH! It only cost £3 from a charity shop!" when complimented on an outfit, and would instead smile demurely and exude an air of casually effortless monied style. Well into my 30s and still can't shut up about an amazing bargain.....
...a woman at work pulled all sorts of faces at the thought of wearing clothes from a charity shop (after admiring a skirt purchased from such an establishment). More people like her turning up their noses means more bargains for the rest of us!They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
