Does anyone else find that they consistently get the good stuff from particular c.s. whereas other ones, sometimes literally yards away, NEVER turn up anything you want despite you looking in them just as frequently?
Yes, I do find that. I'm often to be found admiring bric-a-brac-type thingies, linens, kitchen-ware and small glass tumblers for my candle-making rather than clothing, as I have far too much of that already (still doesn't stop me grabbing good linen or silk items when I spot them, though) and the prices charged varies wildly. Certain CSs price certain things keenly and other things rather, ahem, optimistically. I know very well which ones price how and I also have an absolute maximum that I'm prepared to pay for anything (i.e. not much). It's the prices for small glasses which bewilder me: some of them are almost treble what they could be bought for new at @sda or W!lko's. Bonkers! But at the Sally Ann they want 10 pence each for them. That's more my style, for sure. Especially when you're a few pence short of the final total and the ladies throw in what you you've chosen free of charge. Now, that's truly Christian!
Very well done on the mohair shrug-type thingy, GQ! Beautiful and practical are things I understand very well.
I wasn't going to go out today but this thread is urging me to pop on the bus and see what the local Salvation Army Thrift Shop has there especially for me. Must resist! Must resist!0 -

Too late B&T, resistance is futile... You have seen the light, CS shopping is the way forward... go forth & shop 'til you drop!:)0 -
I went for a quick look through a few shops on my way home from work, got a video for the collection and a lovely new top for work with lots of flowers on.0

I love looking in charity shops and having lost over 3 stone last year completely refurbished my whole wardrobe entirely from charity shops. It's an incentive to stay at size 8 as there seem to be some real bargains. I found a lovely white linen jacket from Planet on Monday for £7.50 - I found a similar one new online for £149!!. The other good thing is that I don't mind doing alterations when I haven't paid much. The sleeves were too long and I happily chopped a bit off and re hemmed them whereas I would have been much more wary had I paid a lot more.Weight Loss Challenge 5/7/19 10st 6lbs

THREE STONES IN WEIGHT! A SIZE 8! Good Lord, that deserves some congratulations on a hard job well done. I've been slim-to-haggard in my time but was never a size 8 even when I was a stick-thin teenager.
And you're right, the CSs I go to have loads and loads of lovely things in a size 8 and few in (the much larger) popular size I wear these days.
I made a cup of tea and had a reflection: I'm not going to the Sally Ann, not today. There's really nothing I'm in actual, real need of so it would just be buying for the sake of a cheap, uplifting treat and £2.70 for the bus-fare. Another day. Whatever darling treasure I may have found is sure to be there another day eventually.
Wall-paper: that's something which is worth buying in CSs. I got a roll of rather nice, light-coloured marble-effect paper for 50 pence not long ago. That 30-odd feet of cheap paper made rather a lot of drawer-liners, let me tell you.0 -

Hi all, I've joined this forum purely on the weight on this thread alone, though I see there are lots of other great posts too.
My best purchase was a set of old fashioned weighting scales complete with weights. I use it all the time. Its fun weighting everything out to achieve that perfect balance. It cost a mere £5 which I thought was fabulous as some places sell modern ones for £40.
I've also brought loads of great books for silly prices. I got James Wong Grow your own medicine for 50p, and some fantastic cook books for 20p - 50p.

Does anyone know the best chain to buy children's (baby's) toys from?
Not so much the soft toys, more 'activity' type of thing.
I'm trying to amass a collection for when my grandaughter visits.
Thanks.Normal people worry me.0 -
Mine was a plastic pink disney princess kitchen for £7.50 which my daughter loves. Was half price at £50 in toys r us.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0
