What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

I have been after a lot of buttons for my crafting. A lot of people advised trying charity shops as apparently they take the spare ones out of clothes and sell them in bulk, really cheap.
I tried four in my city the other day, 3 looked at me like I was mad when I asked for buttons!
The fourth (cancer research) produced a big jar full, at a guess about 300 in there, mainly plain white. I asked how much as they went to ask someone in the back.
They came back and said 25p each. To buy the lot it would have cost £75 (if my calculations are right!) I thanked the and went on my way. A stall on the market was selling them new for 10p each!
I would guess that jar would continue to have more buttons added, and doubt very much that anyone would buy them at that price, especially if you wanted a lot!

If you can get to one of these shops they often sell bags of buttons for low prices. I think I got about 100 for a £1.00.0 -
I went looking early last week for some outdoor/climbing/walking trousers for my hols later in the year. The best of the fairly sparse bunch was by Rohan, a well-respected brand. Couldn't afford the £75 price tag.
I carted a big bag of goodies to the local hospice shop and when I was leaving I checked the racks-- and guess what? A lovely pair of very lightly worn black Rohan 'Strider' trousers just waiting for me...and only £4. Karma, or what???0 -

I often find that Boden items are priced more cheaply than Next or M&S. I guess it is less well known. In fact I think Next items seem to be priced more highly than most other brands.
I got a gorgeous Wallis top today for £3, and a pretty green skater dress for £1. I'm not 100% convinced on the shape, but loved the colour so much that I went for it.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
