But dithered over some Morland sheepskin boots, just my size and looked almost new, but refuse to pay £25 for second-hand! Even though brand new they would have been a heck of a lot more! The charity shops in Ilkley are pricing themselves out these days and seem far less busy than they used to be. A shame as the charities themselves must be suffering because of it.
I saw a pair of Morland sheepskin boots, they were only £8 but too big for me.
Yesterday I bought a Samsonite neck/back cushion for travelling from local RSPCA shop.
They retail at £20.50 + P&P and I paid £2.00 but I was going to buy one from M&S for £12 and it's nowhere near as good as this one.
And far better than the Avon one I've already got.
Can't wait for my next long-haul flight.
I've Febrezed it and it's hanging up drying.0 -
We have a Cancer Research CS nearby and sometimes items are more expensive in there than new from the shop and I know we are making a donation of money in return for items but I will not pay their prices. Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

I think the smaller, non-national charity shops often seem to have more sensibly priced goods.
Our local Hospice shop is great.
There are 2 BHF shops in my nearest town and one is ridiculously expensive.
And I don't think I've ever bought anything from the Barnados in our village - it's been open over a year.0 -
Yup, I work in. Barnardos and it embarrasses me sometimes! yet I read in here of people getting things for 99p from their barnardos branch. How can that be? There is a register of "suggested" prices that we are meant to use and it's quite exhaustive, giving brand and condition then price etc.Norn Iron Club member 4730

I think our 99p Barnardos must be some kind of clearance shop? everything there is 99p and kids clothes are 4 items for 99p.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0

A Berketex thick woolly zip up jumper for £1.50
Last week I also got a Duck and Cover zip up thick trackie style top for a fiver, OH was quite jealous and has requested to borrow it!
I've also found our local community shops to be cheaper than the big name charity stores. Especially after I was pointed to their £1.50 clothes rail!0 -
Got a lovely next Cord skirt for 3.95 from local scope. I know scope have a list of suggested prices because I have seen it being used.
Thanks to charity shops my wardrobe is now so full I need a sort out lol0 -
I got a brand new Racing Green rugby shirt for my husband for £10. From the tags, I think it's House of Fraser & they're on sale in there at the moment for £40.
I, too, got a neck pillow. it's memory foam, velour covered with toggles at the side; presumeably to fold it securely, but not entirely sure. It was new but grubby, so i took off the cover & gave it a wash. Paid 50p for it. It's lovely & comfortable
And, I also got a carrier bag of mixed sized pinecones for 40p.0 -
Picked up a lovely Next skirt suit for £2.50 today- all ladies clothes were half price. I only really wanted the skirt, but couldn't turn the whole suit down at that price.
I totally agree that the local charities seem to price much more realistically than the big national ones. This was a local 'action & adventure' charity and I've had some great bits from there.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0
