she wouldnt have needed to sign off if she was holidaying in this country, just agree to be available if the need arose.
you say she missed her signing when she came back?
if so, this is a proper reason for a sanction
  • She did not miss her signing, she did not sign back from holiday, my issue is that she did NOT have to sign during her holiday so what was the reason for a holiday form

I don't see why she had to put a holiday form in as she said she was available for work & would come back if she got a job or an interview

@missapril75: when I say holiday, she went to see her family in Suffolk for 10 day, which her mother paid for in full

Hence my comment about it not necessarily being what people would normally think a holiday was. :)
  • why do jc staff tell you crisis loans have been stopped but don't tell you about the new short term benefit advance.

With the exception of a couple of excellent sensible posters there is an awful lot of bull on this thread, banging head against a brick wall springs to mind with the rest of you.

You need to wake up to what is actually occurring here, far too many reasonable, cognizant people are having their money stopped for all manner of ridiculous and unconscionable reasons, is it a secret government agenda? possibly not.. it could be just the people in charge at individual Job Centres, but is it still occurring anyway? YES it is, THAT is not a lie nor is it "bull".

There has even been a whistle blower not so long ago in the newspapers.. just head to google and type "Stitching-up claimants is all part of the job" you will find an article on the mirror's website.. the whistle blower even went straight to Iain Duncan Smith! So how can you sit there and say that these things do not occur? I myself am a JSA claimant.. and I have seen it first hand! patronised and mocked by people barely able to single finger type on a keyboard! goaded into an outburst i will assuredly NEVER rise to.

Much like the policeman that tells you that you cannot do something because its illegal, even if you know otherwise. Then when that same officer is asked to cite the law you are breaking.. cannot.. its down to ignorance and the perpetual allowance of ignorant people to commit great acts of ignorance that effect people in a disastrous manner and lead to people losing their benefits for up to 3 years. These people are often not even informed that there are Hardship allowances that could help you to essentially survive in the mean time either so yes... a lot is going wrong with the entire system right now and its usually brushed off because people claiming benefits are scowled at by those that are lucky enough in this economic climate to have a job right now.. but may very well find themselves at the other end.. and will be outraged when they, even only having been unemployed a matter of hours! are treated like a hardcore benefit bandit who has lived his entire life on the dole never having worked a day.. (which is a category I do NOT fall into)

Funny how what I'm saying is as relevant now as it was then though, by funny I actually mean tragically funny.

    Hello everyone.

After having read through the comments on here I feel compelled to express my outrage & disgust regarding my current situation.

To my horror I received a letter from the DWP today informing me that my claim for Job seekers Allowance had been sanctioned for three months. I have had the misfortune of enduring abuse from people who are beneath me (Job centre staff) for too long, but this just takes the biscuit.

On Wednesday 25 June I was told that my next "sign on day" would be Wednesday 9 July at 1:00 - two weeks later which is usually the case. I promptly attended my appointment at 1:00 where I am told to come back at 2:45. Luckily this proved to be a minor inconvenience as I live relatively close to the Job centre. When I return and finally get to see an advisor I am met with a boatload of abuse and asked why I did not attend last weeks appointment. My reply was that I was told that my next appointment was for the 9th of July, yet this woman acts like she heard nothing and simply repeats her question. It was like talking to a brick wall.

I feel like I have been duped out of my JSA allowance to be honest. I certainly would not be surprised to learn that claimants are tricked out of receiving benefits they are entitled to. If this type of practice is not taking place in Job centres then it certainly feels like it is! I know others have posted messages that claim this to be true and I certainly would not be so quick to dismiss them like some on here do. Fortunately I've never had to work with these scum bags, so I may never be privy to what really goes on behind closed doors.

I have contacted the DWP for a Mandatory Reconsideration but I am already getting the sense that it's all in vain. Furthermore, I find it interesting that the DWP have taken extra care to not mention anything about Hardship Benefit in my letter from them.

If I was not so meticulous in my research I would be in very deep water now, presuming of course that I am eligible for Hardship Benefit. I was in this situation a few years back and I nearly starved, so don't think that poverty is reserved for third world countries.

How can one inquire about a benefit if they do not even know of its existence? It makes absolutely no sense yet this is what the DWP expect people to do, it's ludicrous.

    Rant over.
  • My partner was sanctioned a few weeks back & she applied for Mandatory Reconsideration, and she eventually got it as they said that there was not grounds for a sanction so don't lose heart my friend
