Unclaimed belongings "disposed of" by gym

  • Any gym I have ever went to display signs saying that anything left in lockers over night will be disposed of.

I wouldnt imagine you can claim anything from them.

CCTV won't help cuz locker rooms don't have CCTV in them (if they did, I'd be applying for a monitoring job, double-quick time).

    How seedy!

No. Wallet's still with me (why would I keep all my cash in one place i.e. my wallet - are you mad?)

I wasn't driving - so no car keys required.

Peter Falk would be turning in his grave.

So, am I reading this right?
You left cash in a gym locker whilst you went off for a drink?
You think a gym locker is a safer place to store cash than your wallet?
    Not sure who's mad . .

I keep all my cash in one place, the bank.

They would never dispose of it without my permission (although some may say thats debatable looking at their recent accounts)

But, if I ask for a settlement I can hardly be any worse off than if I don't, is my opinion.

Don't ask, insist. They have broken the law, and have admitted as such.

Eh? I don't know what pious means :rotfl:

This ^ is what I was referring to, had you kept all your cash in one place ie in your wallet (a mad idea according to you) it wouldn't have disappeared from the locker, would it?

    You can be a stroppy little Seb can't you . . .

I have been known to have my moments:D:D:D

Trousers, belt, shirt and tie (say, £50 second-hand value).

    £450 hard currency.

No proof of value though, unfortunately. I do realise that I'm coming from a position that might be considered, at best, questionable. Why should I say "£500"? Why not say £400 or £600 or £10,000??

All I know is that I'm straight as a die (but I would say that, wouldn't I?).

I stupidly (I admit that - how could I not) left clothing and a reasonably large amount of cash in a (albeit LOCKED) gym locker.

Many will say "just desserts" and maybe they are correct.

But my mind was elsewhere, at the time.

More importantly, it appears someone took advantage of my making a simple error.

As previously stated, if I had left nefarious goods there, then I have no doubt I would have been "contacted".

It should be mandatory that gym (and rail/bus/taxi...whatever) companies should pass on goods "found" to the police.

It could be any one of us, next time we leave a coat/handbag in BurgerKing or a cinema.

Thanks for your shared indignation - I only wish it were that simple.

That's the funniest thing I've seen for a long time.

Just wait until the Internet-banking merde hits the fan and it WILL (mark my words - I work in that industry).

Guess how much support you will get from your bank after your account has been emptied by some dude in Nigeria :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The CEO will still walk away with an average £6million paypacket, that year, though.
