.... The OptiPlug will control the switching of your radiator, then in the summer you could use it for Air Con or perhaps a Fan ....
    Hi

Don't really know about the use of the Optiplug setup with air conditioning units. We have a portable air conditioning unit and it only powers-up in standby mode - this is the same as every other portable unit I've used .... It would be advisable to check the specs of the specific unit to be used before assuming it would work with an Optiplug.

I could post an 'O' but as it's meaningless to compare different systems I won't :D

I do find it hilarious that it continues (to some) as the way to compare different systems in different parts of the Country :D

  • 20kWh yesterday but most days this month seems to knocking around £7.50 - £10. Despite all this clear sunny sky its pretty chilly but on the upside the meter is not spinning even when the ASHP is keeping the house nice and warm. ...Goes off to collect free wood for the evening...

    Hi

The remark I'd be making is simply "is that all ?" .... someone I know made well over £50 yesterday. Simply harping on about straight income without context is actually more meaningless than most other comparison methods I've seen used on these forums & elsewhere ....

I tend to agree that kWh/kWp is flawed as a comparison measure, but it's simple and at least can be used to gauge performance without reference to any other data specific to a particular site.

There's a 5MWp array soon to be constructed on the edge of a nearby town ... I'd hazard a guess that most would prefer to compare their performance to this on a kWh/kWp basis than straight income ... wouldn't the case then be "I could post a '£' but as it's meaningless to compare different systems I won't", especially considering that the income from such a system would have been ~£2500 yesterday. Posting "... £2500 today ..." would simply raise questions related to size, orientation and location, but apart from kWh/kWp the owners would likely be concerned with return on their investment, which in their case would likely be well over £6million ...

Agree, the gen meter is in kWh and my bank account is in £ so no place for the 'O' here either.

We all had to do the calcs to see if PV was viable in the first place then use the energy in different and creative ways to add value so it should all be about fun and not direct comparisons as that's just boring...

    Cheers

    Greetings,

had our 4kw system installed on Friday! TP Solar from Wellingborough supplied/fitted: 16 x Eco Future panels (8x2 portrait) on a 35° roof, that is SSE ish, with a chimney shadow late in the day.
Schuco Sunny Boy 3800 inverter, L&G generation meter, Geo Solo PV display and all done in a day!
Mostly tidy (as in cleaning up the mess afterwards), quality of the work itself looks spot on - although one panel appears to be lifted at one corner so waiting for them to come back to sort that.

Can't fault any of the guys, good as gold, especially Pete the Sparky and Mark!

They hooked the first string up about 3.30 ish and we had racked up a whole 0.5kWh by the time Mark & I went through the GoodEenergy FiT application.

Best day so far was yesterday, when we got 17.95kWh, total to date is 47.8kWh.

Will update more as and when, but got to go as I need to be in Leicester by 5.15!!

    Cheers!
4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.

Very poor day up here in Scotland too. Curiously though my system seems far more efficient since yesterday's "1 string into 2 strings" conversion. Actually seen my instantaneous reading at 3.3 kWp at one point, over half a kW more than I'd ever seen. Been basically no Sun here today but still circa 2 O's generated so far!
    Cheers.
