I fitted the Wattson myself it was really easy.
I am very impressed with our 4 Optiplugs; I have set them as follows:
    2kw for immersion heater
750 watts, 500 watts and 400 watts are linked to heaters. I bought our Wattson for £70 on Ebay and it has set me free.

Welcome back! Have you been on Holidays?? :rotfl:

My installers have put all my cables neatly in trunking under my consumer unit. I have an Owl monitor already hooked up. I wonder if the clamps are all the same size?

I know it's a tight squeeze in the trunking because I could overhear the electricians mutterings.

I've costed the Wattson at just over £150, which would include one OptiPlug. I'm sure it'll more than pay for itself though.

The Wattson clamps are very compact.

I contacted my installer today to explore the option of switching my current Owl Intuition monitor for a Wattson, that will hopefully allow my to make use of their OptiPlug.

They are looking into this and hopefully getting back to me soon.
I appreciate that there will be some cost involved at my end.
If I have understood correctly, I will need a Wattson Solar Plus monitor to enable use of OptiPlug. If I've looked at correct model, I think they retail for approx £150. Adding in OptiPlug at £40-£50, I think it will cost me about £75-£80 to change over.

Is this still ongoing? If so, get your installer to do it all for you when they take back your original monitor. :D;)

They say they can't take back by Owl monitor as it has been connected to the network, so cannot be used by anyone else after that. They did offer the Wattson, but the price was nearly £190 inc vat and postage. From the links provided on here, I know I can get it cheaper.

They have offered telephone support to fit new device, but state they cannot spare me any onsite electricians.

I haven't pushed the issue any further with them as I don't know if I'm being unreasonable.

I emailed Owl to see if they have anything similar to the OptiPlug in development. They replied that they will pass it on to have a look at it. They are missing out on a fantastic piece of kit, in my opinion, if they don't bring one out.

Navitron would be your best bet for price. My transmitter is wired into the main fuse box, a local PV approved sparky would probably fit it for £25.. only takes 10 minutes. :D

I don't mind paying that sort of price.

I've sent a feedback form to the installer today, after finding it in my installation pack. I have out additional comments regarding monitor etc. let's see if this prompts them to be more generous with the help:p (I doubt it).

I've just rang Navitron to enquire about wireless range of the OptiPlug -couldn't seem to find anything online. They tell me 30 meters or so. This should be plenty to reach my tub as it is only 10/15feet from house. I would hate to go to expense of changing and find I can't get a signal to the plug in my tub:eek:
