First full day of system working.

11.6kwh. Not sure if this is good or not. Was quite a hazy, dull morning, but lovely and clear from midday.

4kw (16x250 sharp, samil solar river 3680). E.mids, SSE, 35 deg pitch, no shading.
4kw (16X250w Sharp). Samil Solar River 3680 TL inverter.

Just over 2 weeks since my install, yesterday was my best haul - 4.4 O`s......only for today to beat it! Still 4.4 O`s but generated an important 17.5 Kw as apposed to 17.4 Kw

    :D

    Great couple of days!
3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun

    Hi shavy,

Is your system similar to mine? I didn't seem to generate anything over 1.8kwh at any one point in time. Is this right? How will I know if both my strings of panels are working?

Well I only got 1.72kWh today, it was supposed to be fairly sunny but it didn't materialise until mid afternoon, which is pretty useless for me as, like you, I am SSE facing so mornings are better. On Sunday I got 10.28 kWh, which would equate to over 20 if I had a 4kWp system. You should do a lot better when a sunny morning comes along.

In direct sunlight you should be generating rather more than 1.8kW (not kWh if I'm being pedantic), at least 3kW I would think, so I'd be suspicious. Keep an eye on it over the next few days.

Thank you for the reply Kevin.

    That's good to know.

I was previously keeping a check on my elec consumption with an NPower monitor. The readings seem to have increased since pv instal. Is this because it is no longer able to tell between generated and imported, I.e double counting ?
I've switched off now and am going by figures on my Owl monitor, although I think this is not 100% accurate :o

Monitors cannot tell which direction the current is flowing, if you have one on the feed from your main electricity meter it will net off consumption and generation and tell you the difference, but not which one is higher. This might explain your 1.8kW figure, you need to monitor the output from the inverter to get that, or read the inverter display.

I have an EON(currentcost) monitor and can't tell the difference. When the monitor is going up, try switching something on like the kettle and see if it changes. If you were exporting 1kWh and put a 3kW kettle on it'll change to 2kw(import) if its owt like mine. You'll soon get the idea

    17.5kWh today(2.69 O's)

My ESE 2kWp system only managed 4.3kWh today and i'm east of Chesterfield and had similar sort of weather. Double that, add a bit for the SSE and i think you did fine, nothing to worry about
