Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

All good things must come to an end. The heat finally got to my systems and a ninth 30+ in a row was too much to ask. Finally closed on a 'disappointing' 29.7kWh's (5.32 Os).
Looks like today might be just as bad!
Zeup, Tunnel (et all) been thinking about getting a small air conditioner. Wonder if you have any advice. The smaller the better, doesn't need to work miracles just keep the living room cool(ish), approx 4m by 5m by 2.5m. The lower power the better, just to try to ensure it sits under the PV generation so 2kW would allow use from around 8am to 6pm on long sunny days.
The plan is to pop one in the living room, with the exhaust poking through a cat flap into the conservatory (with the conservatory inner door closed, but outer doors open). Is that ok?
Weird question here, but am I right in thinking that an air conditioner is essentially an ASHP depending on which end you are looking at? If so, could I pop the A/C in the conservatory during colder months - when the conservatory is being heated via solar gain, but it's not quite warm enough to open the inner door - put the exhaust into the living room, then run the A/C so it cools the conservatory and vents heat into the living room? Is this semi-practical or just silly ramblings?
Am I right in thinking that this will produce more heat than just on a straight forward kWh to kWh basis (ASHP v's leccy heater) depending on the temp of the conservatory?
Course, if I get an A/C that will guarantee an end to the nice weather!

Afraid I can't spread no light on that one mate, the aircon I have is wall mounted and not portable.(had some friends round for a drink last night and they couldn't believe how cold the house was, virtually had to kick them out:rotfl:)
We have it mounted in the bedroom, but with all the windows and doors closed it does cool the whole house. Most wall mounted ones do now double up as a heater as well now so theoretically in the sunny winter days you could heat the house(providing your generating enough). Ours uses 1.2-1.3kWh for both heating and cooling and produces 3.9kW of heating.
Get one bought, I can't remember how much it cost but with all your panels it'll certainly be a cost effective way of heating in the winter and help you use up a lot more of generation, rather than exporting it
I had to snuggle under the duvet last night as it was like a fridge in there:D

Mart.
For heaven sake don't get one until November..Afraid I can't spread no light on that one mate, the aircon I have is wall mounted and not portable.(had some friends round for a drink last night and they couldn't believe how cold the house was, virtually had to kick them out:rotfl:)

Martyn........your barred for bringing your bad luck onto here, only done 19.75kWh today, not quite a groundhog day.
We nearly had our sun blacked out today by one hell of a fire in Sheffield(15 miles away). Luckily I believe no-one was hurt.2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -

forecasters assuring us we'll see sun later. Let's hope they're right
And by golly they were right :T Let's hope that's the start of a new improved forecasting record ! Am I convinced ? What do you think ?
Again quite a lot of high level cloud again - but another 22.2kWh was welcomed.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -

Afraid that's rather unlikely. IF indeed GW is actually going to happen, its disciples now think it's just as likely to result in lower temperatures & more cloud in our part of the world as it is to give us lots more sun..
And of course if we did have a few years of bright cloudless skies, our SPs would probably be running so hot that yield dropped off.
Best guess is that within our lifetimes, the degree of climatic variation will be around the same as it has been for the last couple of generations and that any month where the pvgis forecast is more than 20% out will remain unusual.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
Long time no check in, been away for a few days and busy negotiating a voluntary redundancy package up via collective consultation. :j Anyway while I find out whether my ejector button has been enabled or not, here's the Solar PV news from Cider Country:
July 2013 to date: 272.4kWh (19.5kWh/day) or a tidy £132.01 including deemed export.
PVGIS target: 417kWh (13.5kWh/day), so performance is currently 44% ahead of target.
July 2012: 432kWh (+3.6% compared to PVGIS).
First four days of July were a disappointing 16.6, 6.2, 11.5 & 10.9kWh but every day since has been 21.9kWh or better. I need to update my spreadsheet but pretty sure we have set new 7 day records. Meter Readings App's extrapolation reckons we could beat 600kWh if the second half of the month is as good as the first (even allowing for the poor start). Here's hoping we beat May 2013's 476kWh at least (our current record since installation Oct 2011).
Think I owe ye a posting on my June results as well, maybe soon!
Oh and we should hit 6MWh generation on Tuesday morning or late Monday (23.9kWh needed).Cider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0 -
