I never thought I would say this - being a lover of gas hobs but I think I'd be inclined to go with induction (even though you may have to replace pans). The obvious reason is that at certain times you may get to use it for free but also I recently did an experiment comparing the cost of using my hob kettle (on gas) to the electric kettle. Amazingly (for me anyway) the gas is hugely inefficient and even thought cost per kW is about 1/5th of electric, the cost of heating a litre of water turned out at only 10% cheaper. So I'm not sure that gas works out a lot cheaper for most cooking (unless you always want the dual effect of heating the kitchen at the same time!) I reckon induction takes some getting used to but it's probably worth it.
    Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. W Yorks.
    Install 2: Sept 19, 600W SSE
    Solax 6.3kWh battery

I am in the same 'new kitchen' process; going to replace my current gas hob (4 burner) for a (5 burner) I like me WOK cooking. Use a/an AAA rated oven, plus a 4 Ltr capacity M/W for most stuff. Gas is far cheaper than electric in the evening when there is no sun anyway. That's my story, and I will stick with it....smiley-laughing021.gif
Not too bad a day, a/an Hawaii + 0.24 O's that'll do me, blew the bleeding doors orf!....coffee.gif
Just saw Exiled's post; never hardly get free cooking (especially in winter) as one or both work most days until after 18:00.
Time to get Dinner on in a minute, wheres the fricking sun?...smiley-laughing021.gif

It depends on when you are planning to cook ( to make use of solar power). I had used induction for 4 years - its a wonderful way of cooking and virtually having a cooler work top along with ease of cleaning. It did take me a bit of time to get used to cooking on induction hob. Some of the induction cookware are expensive and well worth the money.
Have switched back to gas and have to say - I have not missed induction.

5.2 O's today - thats 50% done for this month

Except that moron has doubled the deficit(which he conveniently forgets) and cut the funding to renewable energy.
