It's also nice to have cooler surfaces near the hob, and to be able to leave metal spoons in, as they aren't (sneakily) heated up the side of the pan.

I don't need to worry either way now as I have a garage full of wooden spoons form my 'interesting' choice of PV orientations.

Mind you, reading the results, looks like I did ok yesterday with a nice 2.24 Os.

Would you like to recycle your spoons cos I could use them as kindling to start of my stoves if you do not have any use for them?

    Ok. Thanks for that.
It seems that my basic 700w radiator would work but what about the 600/900/1500 one?.
What would you have that set on?.
And what if the excess were 3kw as it often is?.

I got a 600/900/1500 one as well, set on max output, don't worry the unit will be able to take only the max 1.5KW and the iBoost will also stop at that even though 3kw excess might be on offer. The other option I am thinking of is either storage heater or electric under floor heating set in concrete (not sure how effective it will be or if its worth it) I plan to have wet under floor heating through out the ground floor eventually.

Is your target only 300kWh for March? We are not far from you in London and our target is 291kWh from a 3.36kWp system. Maybe our target is too high. Just wondered.

Only 0.55 O's for us today

    Edwink ;)

As per new PVGIS my target is 351 kWh but I got some shading on lower most row of panels for 2 hours (should go away soon) hence tweaked the target to be 300. This is my first year so I am not sure how much the shading will affect my target. I had just recently increased my target for March since as per old PVGIS it was 266kWh!! but looking at the output in the first few days in March, 266 is definitely too less.

    Oooohhh! That's interesting.

We all chat about targets, usually based on PVGIS estimates, but are we all talking about the same?

I'm asking this out of interest, there is no right or wrong answer, but do others use adjusted targets?

I use the PVGIS* estimate as a target, but assumed I'd get less due to shading, though I've been fine so far. Hope that makes sense, my generation % each month/year, is based on orientation, pitch and size, but no deduction for shading.

    What does everyone else do?

*My targets are before PVGIS increased the estimates (about 5%?). I stuck with the older figures, as all of my records had them, and my financial estimates were based on them, and I can simply deduct 5% from any annual result if necessary for comparison purposes.

That's a very interesting question Mart.

Our PVGIS targets have not taken in to account our massive shading over the winter months and our slight morning shading we have all year from the neighbouring houses to the left of us.

As you say there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to PVGIS targets. But, I think for the sake of this thread it would be good if we were all singing from the same song sheet. What do others think?

So is the PVGIS we are using Climate-SAF PVGIS?

On the subject of Shading during the day I have 4 Panels that are in shade due to various reasons before the suns angle puts them all in shade.

During the 22 months I have my system I have a 14% difference between best and worst. Glad I installed mini invertors.
