I am getting a 4kw install next month.
The installer wants to put the inverter in the loft.
My fuse box is in the garage.
My question is what is the point of a digital display on the inverter when it is somewhere you can not see it?.

It's there so that if you suspect a fault you can go and look at it. It will also be useful for your installers if you need to call them back to fix a fault.

Most inverters have a facility for an additional display (or a computer link) so that you can see what's going on without necessarily standing next to the inverter; sometimes you can even use such a remote display from another country.

I put my inverter in my garage as it is cooler than in the loft. Much easier to read when ever I want. I could use my loft in the summer as a sauna.

  • Heya,

I'm new to this (system installed just before the end of September), but 1.111 Os today (Thursday).

Mediocre, but today I hit my month's estimate, which is usefully reassuring for my first full month :)

I'm aware it won't always be like this of course :-S
