Folks plans are afoot to build the largest solar farm in the UK here in the sleepy Northern Irish greenfield countryside

Whilst renewable energy isn’t a bad thing whatsover on brownfield land, on your roof and when blended into the environment, destroying 250 acres of countryside for a solar farm isn’t something I can support

Sadly our planning laws are weaker than the rest of the UK and thus we are a target for non-local speculators

Oscar, does your 2.86p per kWh Ovo rate include 5% VAT? Mine is 3.024p per kWh including VAT. The export FIT rate was 4.77p per kWh at installation day (November 2014) but should increase to 4.85 in the April of the calendar year following installation, i.e. April 2015.

Morning. The export rate for all installs after 1/8/12 is now 4.85p. Whereas new installs have to wait till the following year for an inflationary lift in FiT, the export rate goes up each April with inflation irrespective of install date.

Thank you, Mart. I appreciate you clarification. It's not a huge loss moving to actual export.

Someone posted an analysis in these fora concerning the efficiency of DHW heating. I do not seem to be able to find that.

    . . . . . destroying 250 acres of countryside for a solar farm isn’t something I can support . . .
I'm not really sure that comment belongs in this thread. It might have been better to start a new one.

A solar farm doesn't have to destroy the area it's built on. Properly planned, it should still be possible to use the field for animal grazing. Perhaps you should consult planners and ask if they have considered that point ?

a local residents group is formed and in discussions with all the relevant parties including the planning service

no disagreement that if a solar farm is suitably located, sized and blended into the environment it's not destruction and sheep can potentially graze round the panels etc.

however if a proposal has a 2m high security fence all around it, occupies 250 acres of greenfield and is clearly visible from the nearby round it's a different matter in my opinion

anyone interested can learn more at https://www.kellsvocal.com and reach your own conclusion whether it's a good thing or not

Hiya Eric. Normally a good suggestion, but since the very same post has already gone onto 3 boards, I suspect a further breach of the MSE regs might not be wise, in this case.

Thanks for pointing that out Mart; E-On must be doing me then. Just checked my last Payment statement - units deemed exported @ the rate of 3.44p. Phone call required me thinks........

    Hi

Just checked mine as also with E-on. My rate is 3.44p.

Mart, you mentioned installs after 1/8/12 being 4.85p. Do you mean installs before and not after for the rate of 4.85p.??? If not what is the rate for installs before 1/8/15 ???

    Now I am confused!!!!!

Both are correct, you are both early adopters and get the 48p generation rate but the lower export.

Latecomers to the party get a higher export(4.85p(like my WNW) and a lower generation
