The price of gas here is 3.034 p per kWh. If efficiency of heating water is less than 63% (3.034/4.850) then I should switch off the iboost and be paid for my export instead.
Appreciate that we may be on different export rates; mine is 50% of Gen deemed as exported; currently, mine is 3.44p. it was, prior to 01.04.15. 3.39p. My current Gas charge with OVO is 2.86p per kWh. Just check your numbers, or if you still have meters fitted, switch your smart off...:D2.5 O's ish here today..... I'm not there:mad:

3.35 O's here today (just)4kw PV fitted 4th July 2014 (Green Energy NW £5600). WSW facing, 30 deg Pitch, Unshaded, Samil Solar River inverter, 16 Solar World Mono panels, Iboost on Immersion Heater. located in mid Lincolnshire.0

Sterlingtimes wrote: »Ovo has confirmed (a little to my surprise) that from now on I will be metered for export. That is, in my case, a disadvantage.
So I may move from a payment of 3380 PVGIS x 0.0458/2 = £77;
down to 3380 PVGIS x .27 * .0458 = £42;
only a £35 annual loss;
but then there is the possibility of switching off the iBoost if it doesn't cost in, i.e. if the export payment exceed the cost of gas saved.
Not good news at all there Sterling!! I assume you have a smart meter fitted then??4kw PV fitted 4th July 2014 (Green Energy NW £5600). WSW facing, 30 deg Pitch, Unshaded, Samil Solar River inverter, 16 Solar World Mono panels, Iboost on Immersion Heater. located in mid Lincolnshire.0 -

Think you may be correct in that assumption.....:rotfl:..2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.

Oscar, does your 2.86p per kWh Ovo rate include 5% VAT? Mine is 3.024p per kWh including VAT. The export FIT rate was 4.77p per kWh at installation day (November 2014) but should increase to 4.85 in the April of the calendar year following installation, i.e. April 2015.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon.
