Flight is earlier so can I get compensation?

Thanks for this. The flight has moved significantly enough for it to cause me to cancel what I was doing that day, or book an evening flight with a different airline (which I will probably do but it is expensive as it is quite close to the date).
I don't think it's unreasonable for the first airline to compensate me given the late notice of the change, but it seems that the EU regs will not force them to do that. I'm not sure I want to give precise details of the situation as the airline might read this thread.0 -

Sorry, that has really made me giggle :rotfl:0 -

I agree with incapuppy. Both the airline and you know the details, yet you want help on the forum without sharing the details. Your rights and airline obligations under 261/2004 depend on the facts/detail. So why post without them? And it is facts that are required - not whether you feel upset or will be inconvenienced! Travel can be a hassle.
I spend most of my forum time with a few others trying to help posters with flight compensation issues and interpretation both on MSE and elsewhere. If posters do not give factual details, it is a complete waste of time and in your case, it could end up costing you more money and inconvenience if you seek to make travel changes without understanding fully the situation.
If on reflection, you want to find the answer to your question, suggest you post all the answers to the following:
1. Time and date of original flight and flight number (departure/arrival).
2. Time and date of re-scheduled flight and flight number (departure/arrival).
3. Exact time and method of notification from the airline of change of 1 to 2.
4. Departure and arrival airports - are they the same in 1 and 2?
5. Did the airline offer you any explanations/options?
You allude to Euro 250 compensation so by deduction you are looking at a flight under 1500kms - that is all we know.
If you post all the answers requested, you might get a specific view. If not.....0 -
Thanks.
The flight has moved by more than 6 hours forward.
The notification was between 7 and 14 days in advance and in writing.
No change in airports which are both in the EU and less than 1500km apart.
No reason was given and the only option offered is to accept the change but I haven't phoned them yet to ask about other options.0 -
I have given enough info for anyone to help me with the EU regs if they want to, but it seems some of the people here don't agree with airlines paying compensation (perhaps because it will increase prices for them) or would prefer to take the Michael and suggest that I don't deserve any state benefits that I might get ?!*Ahem*
Did you miss this OP?
Of course, Martin does describe this as a Consumer Revenge site so I am not ashamed of asking here about any compensation rights I might have!0 -

Good luck in whatever it is you are trying to achieve - apart from wasting people's time0 -
Please be nice to all MoneySavers : There's no such thing as a stupid question and, even if you disagree, courtesy helps.
The thing is I am used to the gambling boards where any chance that a company has to identify a poster can lead to blacklisting. So I am not going to let the airline identify me.0 -

Absolute rubbish.
If that was the case, you would know the answer to your question and also what to do and how to do it.
Not wasting further time on this0 -
