Here's another gripe for the WHD scheme. As with most I to received the letter saying I had qualified for the payment. As it had not gone in by the 2nd April, I phoned British Gas and was told that I was marked for payment, but with the Bank Holiday all payments were delayed.
I have just phoned British Gas as my account is still in the red and have been told that I no longer qualify.
My only source of income is ESA (£71) per week, of which £28 is rent and £25 is gas and electic and theres still the TV license £7.12, Phone £8.50 and whats left is for food...

    I'm now quite angry!

I just found this and think it maybe of interest to some -

  • Well I'm stunned. Scottish power advisor ( named Gerry..very helpful) issued me with an rti code......took it to paypoint and £140 was credited to my key! I'm so relieved its finally on my meter....thanks to all the scottish power advisors who helped!
Its all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:

Although I now have mine :j
I have to say what was most irritating, was the constantly changing story. Your account number is wrong, your meter number is wrong, you haven't topped up enough or often enough.
We will call you back, it will be sorted by tomorrow...etc etc.

Would help if they just told the truth and sorted it out. In my case one advisor who obviously knew what he was doing sorting it out in half an hour.
Good luck, have you complained to their head office email?

It just gets better...here is the log of my online conversation with scottish power trying to find where my money is.

I lost the last couple of lines but basically he asked if i would like them to call me and for them to transfer me through to this SAP migration team...can't see what they can do though! It was inconvenient so i said so and told him it was upto him to sort it out.
    :wall:

I feel sorry for the advisor you spoke to. He tried to help, and you just had a go at him. There is a way to get these things sorted, and it is not by acting as you have.

i am so aware that the people that i actually 'speak' to have no power in decision making. they just answer the phone.
but at the same time, i know how frustrating it is to just receive 'lip service'

we have all been told that the fidcount will be applied by 31st March, and yet we are still waiting. we have bills built up in the knowledge that a contribution will be made, and yet nothing is showing up.
if you have budgeted depending on this grant, then it is very stressful having to fight for it

you cant blame the people that answer the phones. they have no power at all. they just read from a pre provided script.

but i totally accept how hard it is to have patience.
i updated my meter reading today and have to wait 3 days for my bill now.
i have written conformation that the WHD will be applied with this bill.
but i cant be blamed for being sceptical.
it would all be avoided if the suppliers would communicate

Well i've just spoken to an advisor on the phone and she adamant it's down to Department of Work & Pensions and claims they are the one's responsible for dealing with the claim! It started to turn into an argument so i said well my understanding is different and i don't want to argue. Anyway apparently she will investigate further and find out what she can and i should receive a phone call back. We'll see but this is really doing my head in now.

Well that's complete bs. The advisor I spoke to referenced a department that was specifically dealing with whd payments. Seeing as you have been told that you are legible and it will be applied to your account I think you should maybe speak to their head office.
Is it a normal account or a prepay your on.?

scottish power asked for my meter reading, and i submitted it.
it says my bill for the last quater is £11.11 so it's obvious that the £139 has been credited to my account.
but nowhere does it actually show up as a payment into my account ... only my payments are shown. still, it's been paid, and something less to worry about!

theyve also lowered my monthly payments to £35 so i'll have to phone them because there is no way that can be right and they will have to raise them massively later in the year to cover my bills ( i'm all electric)

    The same here....

When I logged into my account, there was a credit of £190, but with no explanation (though I knew approx £70 of that was from my recent payments)

I phoned Scottish Power and they said that £123 (and some pence, but I've forgotten the exact amount) was credited to my account 25th April)
My monthly payments were going to be lowered, and they then planned to put the credited amount towards future bills, but I asked for a refund by way of a cheque instead.
My monthly payments will now stay as they are (like you say, they would have been too low later on)
