  • Had a nice morning with my partner. Little bit of shopping and treat of coffee in Starbucks. Did some of our future financial planning together around MF and a possible (retirement in the sun) if we can.
My car will be paid off in June, so will put the HP payments towards the mortgage (i can reduce the term by 6 years if i make the payments permanent which i think i will do). Going to open a new ISA in April with £500 (its a start) and save into it throughout the year.
Off to the cinema tomorrow with my son to catch up with him and the cinema release "Gangster squad" (anyone seen it).
Mortgage as from Monday will be 13 years with a projected MF date of 6 years (it will be tough.....), but hey the family is on board....

    oh yeah :)

i'm a bit of a movie fan myself, love to watch a good film :)

ive found though, for us just now we are being more aware of prices of things ( like the cinema and going out for a meal) we now go on a wednesday with orange when it's two for one and for meals we go for business lunches where we can get a 3 course meal for about £7 or so, we still have our good times, we just are more aware of how much we spend, so far this year i have seen the hobbit and pi so its not like we are going without ... as for meals out sheesh this year we mustve had 4 or so already:o
  • Am lucky enough to get a bonus next month, so can pay off my car in full. That leaves me the monthly car payment to put towards my mortgage op for this year so am ready to get cracking!
  • OH got caught up in the terrible event in London this morning, diverted to Stanstead instead of City airport. No council tax payment next month so will have a bit of a treat with the money saved. New carpet for OH daughter arrives friday, a good deal, but then its only small room, we have done all the decorating ourselves and she is really pleased with it.
Leave home in the dark come home in the dark, will be pleased when we get some lighter mornings/ evenings.
  • Spent the morning looking at where i can make some more savings for the mortgage OP pot. Have decided to make packed lunch for work, this will help with the planned diet. Going to walk to work as much as possible this month and next, see how i get on....
Working thru the freezer before pay day to see if i can achieve some NSD at the supermarket before pay day.
Subscribed to some other MFW threads to keep me focussed and disciplined as i do waver from time to time. LOL.
  • Wooohoo, just saved £177 on my yearly house and contents insurance! 15 mins on compare the meerkat site really worked well.
Daylight robbery what Natwest (who my mortgage is with...) wanted to charge me for my renewal!!!!:money:
  • Because i saved so much on my buildings and contents insurance i was able to pay it all in one go! So effectively the £27 a month i was paying on the imsurance last year im going to put towards the OP each month. Not loads but im focussed. That and the no monthly HP car payment will add up. More importantly its demolishing the capital slowly but surely. One day (9 years from now) i hope to join the mortgage free roll of honour!
  • Got a small (cheap) break coming up for me and OH +family, so looking forward to the break. Need to research the best price for 4 new tyres for the car. Trying to do some basic routine servicing to keep garage costs down. Will utilise the non payment council tax months to offset the car costs.
Walking to work has been fun in the icy weather!
