Holiday coming to an end shortly. Have saved quite well this last 3 months and Isa pot is now at £1250. My only vice is cars, and I'm tempted to trade my 3 year old in for a nearly new one....ooh dear, need a reality check here, paying off the mortgage is much more important....need to go for a long walk and have a word with myself!0

Hi,
Just read your diary. Good luck on the MF journey. You sound like a good bloke and a great dad.

Well just back from the long walk and got my head sorted ( also checked bank accounts) back from the brink, no new car needed, definitely wavered but back on track now. Off to celebrate not wasting ££££s on stuff (car) I don't need with an ice cream.! This blog definitely helps keep the focus (until the next month....)0

Hope you're not looking for any of us to agree that a new car is a good idea? Not very MSE - bad bad bad
;);)

Been away for a while, good to be back. Amazed at the inspirational MFW on this site. Have managed to save a bit into my ISA but havent made any overpayments to my mortgage for 6 months. Am trying to build a reasonable cash blanket into my savings account. Had a lovely brisk NY day walk with OH, puts things in perspective. Motivated to make a dent in my mortgage again this year. Will see what spare change i can throw at it in January.0

Done the sums and will get to pay off a small amount with my bonus in february 2013. Only 8 years and 7 months to go if i stick to my plan, a whole 11 years early. Whoppeee, need to stay focussed though.0

Downsizing and selling second vehicle that we dint really use, so hopefully £1750+ if it sells on ebay. Maybe have to do a bit more miles if my employer moves me, which is looking likely in Feb, so once i know then can offload second car. NY resolution to get the cash savings blanket to 1 years mortgage payments banked for any unexpected bills, then pay off 5k of mortgage, interest rate is locked at 5.7% for next 5 years, so makes sense to pay down as much as possible.0

Had a great (belated) xmas /ny gathering with dh family today. Made me realise how lucky i an to be able to put some cash towards paying my mortgage off. Have renewed my focus to enjoy what i have, not be materialistic and be thankful for what i have (no intention to keep up with the joneses). My small bonus in February is going straight to the Mortgage fund!!!!.0
