Why not send them without prejudice the amount it would have cost you had you paid for parking? Not really fair the joe public have to pay whilst you don't and play the system
Because they've never asked for it. They just want to con vulnerable people out of huge sums on money.
I agree we should all pay for parking where the land owner asks for payment but if this request is backed up with threats, like totally disproportionate charges, then I can understand why some people take offence and refuse to pay to park.
Just for the record: I always pay reasonable fees to park.0 -
Can you elaborate please?
Why would a free car park have a pay and display
To give them a reason to issue scam invoices.
I know of an Aldi store where parking is free but you have to visit the P&D machine, press the button, obtain a printed free P&D ticket and display it on your dashboard. There is a PPC employee (parasite) skulking around waiting to give fake parking ticket to anyone who fails to 'not pay at the ticket machine'.0 -
Yes, that is the whole idea, the parasite hopes to cash in on the people who don't notice or get it wrong. It is all part of the scam. Do not forget that is the sole source of revenue for parking companies. So they find "any excuse" to issue a fake ticket.
Another classic is that they turn off the ticket machine, but still try to fine you for failing to display.
You need to realise we are dealing with con artists, not reputable companies.0 -

In fact, do they realise they are jointly liable for a criminal offence by allowing this practice akin to a protection racket to go on? Harassment is a criminal offence and the remedy is substantial damages - as in the Ferguson -v- British Gas case - especially when the wrong person (keeper rather than driver) is targeted for debt collector threats.
Anyway just IGNORE the private parking company (scam).
And lets not forget Van Spall vs British Waterways Marinas Ltd.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. If any Parking Pirates have a problem with my post then contact me for my solicitors address.*****0 -
Cheers guys. If the signs had been noticed we would have got a ticket, but as I said noone in the car noticed that this was necessary, assuming as we spent a fair amount in the supermarket that parking would be free.0

In the car parks where Morrisons do ask for a payment they refund it at the till. Making it free for customers. So you did not cost them anything, as you were a genuine customer. Hence, ignore their parasite.0

I dont normaly go to morrisons as there are non on my usual travels routes, but when i last went to one i spotted their disabled car parking spaces are marked as blue badge only, isnt this a breach of the Equalities act? From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
Yes it is, though a lot of other car park operators have chosen to ignore that. It makes it so much more difficult to raise the money. And raising the money is the prime directive.0

Yep in my opinion it is a breach to suggest that the bay is only there for people with a permit that doesn't even apply on private land. They may just as well say 'Blue Peter Badge holders only' for all the relevance it has!
It misrepresents the purpose of the bay and who it has to be made available for. Discriminates against disabled people with no Blue Badge who may also have the need to use a bay provided closest to the store.
Should say 'disabled customers only' which is quite a difference as we all know.
I was parking in a Waitrose car park last week (to shop elsewhere AND at Waity's which is OK there) and was amused to see one sign said 'disabled customers only' next to 3 wider bays and another sign said 'Blue Badge Holders only' against the adjacent 3 wider bays. So someone got it right with one sign but wrong with the other! At least one sign was right which I was surprised to see as the 'Blue Badge only' myth is widespread.PRIVATE 'PCN'?
