CP Plus Morrisons

Options
A car I travelled in received a "£50 Charge Notice" from "CP Plus Limited" after parking in Morrisons car park, staying under an hour and spending over £35 in the store and petrol station. No-one was aware of the pay and display system until finding the ticket, but what is the best course of action, and how likely are CP Plus to take this to court?

    Ignore the scammers.

Your chances of being taken to court are miniscule in the extreme, especially with no contact.

Look in the forum sticky to see what threatening letters to expect from them. :)

CP Plus don't so Court so no worries. Just play snap with the letter-chain which you will see in pictures on the top thread 'PPC letters & threats'. Have a look now at the pictures previews and the Watchdog clip on there too. See my signature for where to click to 'go back a step' and view the whole current forum, if you haven't read many other threads yet.

But as always we strongly encourage a written, strong complaint to Morrisons' Head office (Google their 'Contact Us' details).

But wait for several of the letters to arrive first, the ones shown in the top thread. Bide your time then choose your moment to photocopy the letters as evidence of harassment and enclose them with a letter of complaint to M's HO. Morrisons will not have a clue about the debt collector letters and it's up to us Supermarket customers to show these big retailers what goes on in their name!

Do not tell them who was driving - just concentrate on COMPLAINING that they allow a third party 'parasite company' to pretend they have authority to issue fines (which they don't). Ask how dare they allow this harassment from a very dodgy 'industry' to continue from their agent, against paying customers? And the very fact that you are the registered keeper of the car does not make you responsible for any alleged contract dressed up as a parking ticket.

In fact, do they realise they are jointly liable for a criminal offence by allowing this practice akin to a protection racket to go on? Harassment is a criminal offence and the remedy is substantial damages - as in the Ferguson -v- British Gas case - especially when the wrong person (keeper rather than driver) is targeted for debt collector threats. Ask if they have ever actually Googled 'how to deal with private Parking Tickets' and did they realise that Watchdog have outed this as a SCAM 3 times in recent months? Their use of such a 'company' who impersonate authority and dupe people into thinking they have got a 'fine' seriously tarnishes the good name of Morrisons and you haven't returned to that store since, preferring to shop unharassed at xxxx (name local store that doesn't use a PPC).

Maybe they will send you a voucher and apology (nice).

Anyway just IGNORE the private parking company (scam).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Make sure you do, YB! If you pay people who issue you with meaningless, unenforceable invoices, then let me have your name and address, as I'm a bit short this month and will send you a bill for reading your post! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • A letter has been received, which is different from the one here:
    i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd471/scam_the_scammers/CPplusfront.jpg

I think it says roughly the same thing, but it's had a re-design and looks a bit more modern.

    The address is misspelled.

It's demanding £90, and says it must be paid within 14 days to avoid 'further action'.

    It states:
date, vehicle reg, make, model, colour, location, time.

    It doesn't mention photographic evidence.

It doesn't say anything about administration charges, only further action if the amount isn't paid.

The only "further action" they will take is maybe another letter or two. After which they realise you weren't one of the mugs that takes them seriously. And give up.

As Coupon Mad has confirmed, CP+ never did court anyway; but since the ruling in VCS v HMRC, no-one does court.

So don't worry, just because they have reworded the letter slightly.. it is still meaningless rubbish. Keep ignoring, they WILL go away!

Why not send them without prejudice the amount it would have cost you had you paid for parking? Not really fair the joe public have to pay whilst you don't and play the system

Because it was a free car park, it is one of those where they make you get a ticket anyway in the hope that people will forget so that they can fine them.

And if you had bothered to read the whole thread, the OP isn't "playing a system" they were genuinely unaware of it.

    Can you elaborate please?

Why would a free car park have a pay and display
