Really hoping there will be some widely / worldly / wise ...and any other combination of W with some vowels that you can think of you will be able to give me some advice..

we have had a few woodlice appearing in our bathroom for a couple of years.. never dopne anything about it, we live right out in the country side , we have a down stairs bathroom ( only) with 3 of its walls as outside / exposed walls .... its what you would expect...
however, went in there last night and this morning to find the floor swimming with them ....

after id finished screaming  and removed our 3 year old who naturally thought it was the best thing to happen since Santa came with presents , i turned out the light and ran out proberbly breaking the land speed record in the process

My question is this, what the hell do i use to exterminate them without using something that will put my babies and cats at risk of poisoning ( and yes I know my kids shouldnt be licking the bathroom floor but you come and look after them for a day and see what your opinion is after that... thats if you make it away from the rocking in a corner position that you will have found to be so comforting by that point hehe!)

Have all fingers and toes crossed that someone will be able to help ...

by the way, we are fairly certain that we have found out where they are coming from, through the front door and under the carpet in the hallway and up through a tiny slit into bathroom doorway, we are going to block that up with sealant tonight however am worrried that that is merely covering up the sypmtom and they will then think about elope to sunnier climates, ie. my living room.

    thanks

Was wondering if anyone can help me. I have lots of woodlice getting into the extension we had built a year ago. I have to remove 4 or 5 a day, everyday. I want to stop them coming in but would prefer not to use chemicals, if I have to use chemicals though they must be pet safe as I have a cat. I thought that maybe there was something OS and safe for pets that I could do but have no idea what! :D

Thanks everyone for any and all help/suggestions.

If you can get to the outside entrance where they're getting in I'd say wash all around there with Jeyes fluid, especially if there's a hole you can pour some down, it's a high strength disinfectant that creepy crawlies hate. It does say to keep cats away during application though.

Edited for google info: Just done a quick google and apparently as woodlice like moisture if you sprinkle talcum powder around and generally make everywhere as dry as possible it will get rid. Worth a try if you have some in.

This is my problem too, this year I've noticed in my bathroom there are always about 4 or5 different sizes like a family:eek: and I too don't know what to do about them.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

Thanks Strepsy. I mentioned to hubby that I'd posted here asking for help and he said he'd been outside and had a good look around for any holes. He found a few little holes that he patched up with mortar. I'll keep an eye open for a few days and if filling the holes hasn't helped I'll try your suggestions.

    Thanks again.

Woodlice are only usually around damp places, under bits of rotting wood or stones etc. So hunt for a source!!!

Other than that, they aren't likely to do any harm, perhaps you could try asking them very nicely to stay outside :naughty:

Can you not live with them? ;) Think of them as a little community with happy faces, plodding along...okay, I was seduced by a song called "Walter the Woodlouse". And I used to play with woodlice when I was a kid...

but I appreciate they may not be to everyone's liking!

I used to play with them too as a kid but these days I just find them annoying. I don't wanna tread one into my cream carpet by mistake, that would really miff me :D Without jinxing myself though, since hubby filled in the little holes he found I haven't seen any. So maybe problem solved.
