So how is a metal cage going to help?, what are your findings on metal cages?, is that comment helpful?

Oh I get it being funny again.. lol

can I just make a couple of points here as I am trying to make a balanced and valid point without being shot down by industry insiders who do not have the consumer

    1. I am not talking about EMF I am talking about RF radiation (which these meters are supposed to pump out in high volume), but thanks for the info.

    2. if meter reading are high (RF readings) in my living space ( I mean what is classed as harmful ) then meter is going, anyone disagree?

Again if readings prove un-harmful, I aint got a problem with the thing.. OK

One last question, maybe the insiders will be able to answer this one

What is the primary purpose of these meters?
by that i mean why are we introducing smart ones?

If the answer is to get accurate readings, then my next question to you is this

Why don't they just pump out a reading one a week back to the Utility Company, or even one a month?

I mean you never expected a reading from me every 45 seconds before so why now?

I'm not going to bother answering your questions as it seems you arent going to listen to the answers anyway.

Instead I'll answer the question in your original post and the title of the thread...

    Your supplier.

I'm sure that health risks should be evaluated. The idea that this has been completely ignored and Government and Utility companies are going ahead and installing hundreds of thousands of these ready to kill us seems laughable to me.

We had a number of years of people telling us that mobiles would fry our brains but this seems to have receded as a risk now. Microwave ovens were going to kill us also.

With some people any change/advance is greeted with extreme suspicion. In the days of the original Luddite it was loss of jobs now it is health risks. Why a smart meter transmitting an occasional signal back to base is inherently more risky than the many other devices that communicate back home I can't fathom.

Proof that the "risks" are not as much as any other devices in the home..

    Ah, a Faraday cage.

What about access issues since that a complete surround isn't it? Only reason I ask is some suppliers are looking at things like meter blocked to see if they should be treated in the same way as refusal to enter. The OP might just need to get the NHHMOP access details updated.

OP could have a specially designed Faraday cage made which would be tuned to the operating frequency of the meter, thus it would be more like wire mesh than solid sheeting.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • once they are all installed throughout the UK watch them creep in peak period higher prices, eg 7 am to 10 am and 4pm to 8pm, the old law of supply and demand can be used. Another benefit of smart metering!

I was under the impression they arranged the fitting of smart meters when you signed up to them (on the smart tariffs) so surely they would know what they fitted?

I'm only going on what I've read, havent been with them myself (also due to what I've read.. lol)

I live in a rented property which is supplied by first utility. The electricity meter is definately not a smart meter - just a normal meter which we have to read every now and again - very annoying as it's in someone's bedroom behind a bed!

Maybe it depends when you sign up or what area you live in though?

    You hit the nail there.

It would require more complex software but with them upgrading yo SAP from their ancient systems its all going to be possible.

I do know that 30 minute data is being used for analysis purposes on domestics for specific reasons so its only a matter of time before thy see an "opportunity" in pricing.
