So you dont have a mobile phone, use wifi etc etc all of which will emit more that a smart meter which only communicates to send readings on a fairly infrequent basis.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Seems wise, even after the meter is covered with tin foil, not to allow the children to hold it to their heads for too long a period.0 -

Not accurate, have a look on youtube where people have done comparisons with mobile phones and then smart meters, using the same metering device, the smart meter was off the scale!!!

Smart Meter Victory for Formby Campaigners Who Expressed Concerns Over Health Effects
[SSM UK Comment] This good news story from Merseyside provides some insight into how much growing concern there is about the Smart Meter programme – with individuals, groups, organisations and now politicians speaking out with their objections. [/]
“A RADIATION campaigner is celebrating after plans to force homeowners to install energy smart meters were abandoned.
“Formby resident Eileen O’Connor, director of EM Radiation Research Trust, joined forces with Sefton Central MP Bill Esterson to speak out against the controversial plans over fears about the potential health effects of smart meters.
“Under Government proposals, every household was due to have a smart meter by 2019 as part of a £12billion programme to stop gas and electricity bills being estimated. But now household will get the chance to reject the meters.
“The move is a victory for campaign groups and MPs who raised concerns with ministers that the devices emit electromagnetic radiation.”
I will be testing mine first, before I make up my mind0 -
How will it affect children's health?
This year the World Health Organisation (WHO) confirmed radiofrequent radiation (Wireless Smart Meters) may cause cancer.
Well I can confirm I "may" win the lottery at the weekend, doesnt really mean I will though does it.
As others have said, I bet there are other sources of radiation in your house from mobile phones, wireless routers etc.. Smart meters arent going to be any worse than having a mobile phone in the cupboard.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

This is just pish and tosh.
Electromagnetic radiation is all around us.
It emanates from electric wiring, all manner of wireless devices and radio transmitters.
It simply cannot be avoided.
Even before your smart meter was fitted, you were subject to EMF from electrical installations and wireless transmitters ranging from your mobile phone (a few watts max) to the local tv transmitter which might be upwards of 500Kw.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). You can all have your views on they that's OK but lets not Talk people down, like I said I will test.
But if MP's have
If the meter registers a constant high level of radiation then, is that OK?
“The move is a victory for campaign groups and MPs who raised concerns with ministers that the devices emit electromagnetic radiation.”
So the MP's are crazy too eh!!.. lol
There are industry insiders on this forum dishing out misinformation because it does not suit their own agenda which cuts out the need for meter checks and saves them money.. simple as that.0 -

Apologies...no one is talking you down.
Electromagnetic radiation can indeed be harmful in the wrong place and in high concentrations.
For instance,a microwave oven emits high frequency EMR and if the oven leaks or has defective screening ,then it could be harmful. I once went into a house and noted that the microwave had a broken glass door. The simpleton was using it but with a table mat against the door, presumably to stop the heat escaping !
If you stand too close to a radio transmitter, you may suffer radiation burns.. i.m talking high powered transmitters and high frequency microwave devices such as mobile phone masts and i am talking about engineers who have direct access to them. Not passing members of the public.
I would also agree that excessive use of mobile phones pressed close to your ear could have long term detrment.
But a smart meter, with a tiny battery powered transmitter..? i dont believe there is any detriment.
If you do then..have your mains power disconnected, bin your satellite tv and many other electronic devices which contain low powered oscillators, throw away your car key fob as that may be an RF device, and dont drive as that will be crammed full of radiating devices.
Also line your windows with foil and mesh to form a Faraday cage to try and shut out radiation from external sources.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Industry insiders do come on this site, the site is all the better for them being here, they are the ones who know what they are talking about, they dont have any financial gain to be on here. Do you really think the energy suppliers would go to the effort of employing people to come on here to promote smart meters just so they can cut down on meter readings?
Do you know how much smart meters are costing the suppliers to fit? If anything I'd have thought it more likely that they would be the ones starting the rumours about the health risks so they dont have to fit them..(thats if I was into conspiracy theories)
Print one of these out and stick it in your window to warn any visitors..
Maybe consider a subscription to the Daily Mail to keep up to date on all the other scaremonger stories.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Hi,
thanks for your reply, yes i do understand EMF is all around us and is unavoidable.
However, test have been carried out by by expert scientists in this field and one called 'DANIEL HIRSCH'.
Look him up, he may know more than me and you!, listen/read what he has to say if you are interested, there are videos of him.
He concludes after his tests that they emit more "RF radiation"
and i quote
"smart meters are at least 100x more powerful than cell phones, which are increasingly being linked with brain tumors"
So as i said i will do my own tests, but research cannot be ignored. I am sure we are all agreed on that, or is he a crazy crank too?, anyone on here done research on this?
Again I will reiterate, I am aware of EMF all around us so no need to keep clarifying this, what concerns me is the high levels of RF radiation being emitted by Smart Meters in our homes.0
