I want my smart meter removing, who do i speak to?

I have had a smart meter installed into my home in Sept 2010, I did not ask for it, my old meter broke down and my supplier installed a smart meter.

I am now very concerned about the health effects of these, I have also been suffering from Titanus for over a year but never put the 2 together. If you google smart meter health effects you will find all sorts on it, I also spoke to my old supplier (to get my old readings) who told me they are not installing them because of the health risks!!!!!. There are even UK sites selling protective paint and EMF reflector boards!.

So my question is this, how do i get my meter removed and replaced with a normal one?, is this possible?. Where do i start?

Thanks
Mr B

Personally I think you will be struggling to get the smart meter,or any meter, removed on health grounds. As far as I know theres nothing proven about ill effects of these meters.theres plenty of claims though.do you have a mobile phone ? Best of luck, can you p.m. me if you succeed as I ve had other people I see in my job who are keen to swap back to a standard meter

Wouldn't it be easier to have a smart meter removed now that they are optional though ?

Titanus giganteus, as its name suggests, is a giant. It's the world's largest beetle and can grow to the size of a small dog.

Is this a wind up? How on earth can an electricity meter cause ill health? The mind boggles.

Just to add that I have never known our local distribution company kow tow to any public demand to replace a meter that they dont like.So long as its working correctly, you are stuck with it. Most people are not happy with the electric dial meter with its awkward to read pointers but I have never known them to swap them because the occupier does nt like them. The distribution company dont have to answer to anyone much and are a law unto themselves.Smart meters certainly have their good points such as a superb and accurate monitor displaying your exact consumption in price and kwhs and the end of daft estimates. The main thing I like about them is the end of virtually rampant theft ( in certain areas I may add) of electric and gas.

Tinnitus - Sorry, Ringing in ears which just started happening round about same time meter was installed, although i never put the 2 together. Apparently some people are sensitive electrical fields maybe I am!. All i know is I have never had problems with my ears before and yes maybe it's just coincidental.

No not a wind up, read the info on these sites - both dot org at the end

    and this

    smartmeterpetition.org/health

the mind boggles because you don't know the facts, why would an energy firm supplier tell me they are holding off smart meters because of health risks?

How will it affect children's health?

This year the World Health Organisation (WHO) confirmed radiofrequent radiation (Wireless Smart Meters) may cause cancer.
Worldwide research also links this type of radiation to sleep problems, behavioural difficulties, heart disease, decreased fertility, diabetes and birth defects. BUT industry and government are ignoring this, continuing to quote ICNIRP safety guidelines and hoping we won't notice!

Oh well, at least we'll know how much energy we've used

I'm sure the scallies are working on that as we speak, they'll see it as a challenge,
We were told chip and pin would stop card theft but it still goes on'

Its really up to them, although I doubt they will agree on the health effects given this is all coming in via EU and our government, as they can point the finger at them since they are telling them to start trialling them.

Contracts for meter changes are all contracted over periods of years, so they won't be missing much from their profit.

On the point of the other supplied telling you that, I would question it given all suppliers are involved I smart meter trialling as directed by the industry.

It sounds like the mobile phone mast debate again. Interesting.

I was thinking more of my children's safety than scallies thieving Eleccy.

Speaking of thieves though my average ectricity bill has gone up from an average of 460 Units a month (checked over a 40 month period) to 615 (over an 18 month period). hmmmmm

Dont worry about the energy firms they don't loose out from the odd scally.

Anyway that aside the heath issues need sorting, I have ordered a EMF meter to check the thing, if its high i'm puttin Tin foil around it till I get it removed. Nothing.. not even money comes before my childrens health!!!

As the US marines say, improvise, adapt, overcome...I just nick the meters now, set up a company selling smart meters to utilities ha ha!
