Unexpected job interview

Well that was quick, I got a phone call this morning, didn't get the job. I was really shocked the guy phoned, I wasn't expecting to hear anything to be honest for a brief moment I got excited, I mean they don't usually phone to tell you that you didn't get the job, I knew it would be to good to be true to get a job so close to home for someone who doesn't drive, he explained someone with more experience got it. So back to the drawing board which is all but blank. Really annoyed to be fair, When he phoned yesterday I foolishly got my hopes up again, I really need to stop doing that, it only sets you up for disappointment.
I am not surprised that someone with more experience got it thats what they tend to go for. Having said that it dosent mean they are the right person for the job.:footie:0 -
He said the guy that got the job has been doing that exact roll for 20+ years where as I haven't, Another case of someone already working getting a job, I wonder how many vacancies actually go to people already working? The vast majority it seems, but I never asked how I did. He said he will keep me in mind for the future so I must of did ok.
OP there loss your gain, as something better is on it's way to you. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
OP it's a shame you can't find out where the successful candidate is working now!0

Is it a small village? Maybe the person they took on lives and works near by? What kind of company is it? Are there similar companies in the area?
Yes its a small place, we have 1 family run shop, a post office and a pub then this place at the side of a guys house, Its a place that sells aerials and satellite equipment to the trade. May be he does live near by but so did I. I thought considering I used to buy stuff of the place in the past I might of had a shot but that probably means nothing.0 -

no one will give you a job on the basis that you are a customer.

The company is a UK chain, this is the only branch over here, but to do the job you didn't actually need knowledge of the industry, it was just a despatch type role so anyone with experience in despatch could do it, I've been keeping an eye out for any despatch type roles appearing but nothing as yet.0
