Need to find 15.6 laptop with nipple and 1920 resolution

Hi,

Originally posted on the 'I wanna buy it' board but had no replies so hope it's ok to post here.

My laptop has finally given up the ghost. I hate having everything really big on the screen, so I want to stick with the 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200 resolution, on a 15.6" laptop screen.

My only other requirement is a nipple, as I hate using touchpads (I did buy a laptop with one once but despite best efforts I could not get used to it, and had to send it back).

I've been looking for ages, and only ones with nipples I can find are Lenovo. But none of those have the necessary resolution except the £1000+ ones.

My old laptop was a Dell Latitude and has all my requirements above, and only cost £440, and this was 5 years ago. Surely there must be something similar available now, please can anyone help?

Thanks.

Forgedaboudit. :) You are not going to find something similar at that price now unless you buy 'refurbished'. Sony had some at their outlet a while back.

Could you use a mouse with your laptop, much better than either a touch pad or a nipple and would allow you to use any laptop. The Logitech nano ones have a very small receiver that can stay permanently in a usb port. I have the M505 laser model which tracks very well on all surfaces including trouser leg and arm of sofa. Battery life is excellent, nearly a year so far on the first set!

Refurbished would be fine, i'll take a look at Sony outlet thanks.

What I don't understand is how the price can be so much more now, than 5 years ago. Most technology prices go down over time not up! And I don't exactly have an exhaustive list of requirements, just those 2.

The only time I use my laptop is when i'm tucked up on the settee with it on my lap, so unfortunately a mouse would be no good.

Because so few of those screens are made now. Economies of scale.

Thanks for that link, I had been struggling to find the Sony outlet previously mentioned.

Appreciate economies of scale but still surprised, nowadays everyone always wants bigger and better, I'd have thought the higher res screens would be more popular than ever - I'm obviously the odd one out though lol.

Also where did all the nipples go, I'm sure loads of laptops used to have those and now I can find hardly any. They're so much quicker and easier to control - again I must be the strange one for preferring them I guess!

    Take a look here

This one already gone @ £420.

But at least you have a model number....

This one still available @ £690. Oops! Gone.

They may be popular, but they are not cheap. :)

Cheapest now £840. But you do get 16.4in screen and a BluRay Writer. :)

Thanks for looking out those models for me TakeThis, really appreciate it. You're right, even matching model numbers would be fantastic right now as I am struggling to even find any.

I've looked at both of those ones you linked to, and they do have the higher resolution :) but as far as I can make out from the photos (I'v'e googled to look at better pics as I wasn't sure at first) they don't seem to have a nipple on there.
