    What are you on about?
    It's a thread on changing pads, discs, and shoes.
    So if you're not including the time to do all the jobs the op had done, no wonder it's faster. It's a bit pointless for the op though.
    I've done all three, that's what the realistic time is for.
    If you don't change any of them, I could do it in no time at all.

    Just to remind you though, as you clearly don't read well.

    For comparison this is how much Citroen dealers charge using genuine parts. Non-genuine pads/discs/shoes OEM (Pagid, Mintex, etc). cost less than half what Citroen charge.

    I had my disks, pads and shoes done on my focus last yr at a small independent garage in with my service. Labour cost was £70 and that includes service too and disks, pads were £90.

    That's impressive.
    Most places will charge £30 to £40 just to change the oil.

    Service labour and all the brake work for £70 is about an hour and a half at my indpendent, and it took them an hour just to change the back pads when I didn't have the time, let alone shoes.

    Why do people insist on genuine parts for 5x the price of generic when they sometimes dont last much longer than the origonals, just at a glance i found a price for mintex pads and discs for the ops car for £33 and shoes for £34 and i could find cheaper if i looked harder. I dont agree that the garage should have a mark up on these prices, their income should come from their labour charge, they cant have it both ways, even the cost of new brake fluid seems excessive.
    OP you have been ripped off but i think its your own fault for not shopping round

    Anything is cheaper if you shop around.
    Problem is though, by the time you've took the car home, phoned around for the parts, paid for delivery, waited in for them to arrive, took the car back to the garage, and had your cheaper part fitted, it's worked out dearer than letting them get the parts in by lunch and picking you car up finished a few hours later, ready for work the next day.
    Pay your money and take your choice on it.

    not very moneysaving is it, i could have the parts in hand by the next day and go to another garage that wouldnt rip me off to get them fitted, why do you think the price the op is paying is ok? would you be happy paying that much cos i certainly wouldnt.
    Even with cheaper generic parts that could be bought over the counter the op would be quids in at another garage or by diy

    If the op has time to phone around, get the parts delivered by a courier, if you're at home all the next day to wait for them, or pay even more for am deliverty, and then get them over to a local garage that can fit him in at a days notice, well and good.

    Otherwise the moneysaving way is to pay the garage it's at.

    ebay sell discs and pads for mine for £30.
    Dealer price is £90, trade is £65 collected.
    Local motor factors delivered to me is about the same.

    And no, I wouldn't put the £30 ones on, there's moneysaving, and there's just too good to be true.

    How much do you reckon a brake fluid change should be?
